Ibuprofen & CBD. How are they similar and how they are different

We all have aches and pains that happen throughout our lives that can be anything from a mild inconvenience to chronic pains. With this, we want to know what the best solution is to these pains. In this article, we will talk about the well-known Ibuprofen and CBD. We will be seeing the benefits of each one, and how they can help with inflammation and pain.

What is Ibuprofen:

Ibuprofen is a common, over the counter medication that is used to treat pain and inflammation. It is a nonsteroidal inflammatory medication. Ibuprofen works by blocking prostaglandin, a specific type of hormone. Unlike other hormones, prostaglandins form through a chemical reaction at the point they’re required. Most specifically, they form in a site with an infection or tissue damage, leading to inflammation, pain, or even fever. Ibuprofen restricts the production of enzymes by cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), resulting in decreased prostaglandin production when you’re injured. This will help lower inflammation and pain. But it’s recommended not to take more than the recommended dose. This is because it can cause serious side effects when taken in excess. Including heartburn, high blood pressure, dizziness, stomach bleeding, heart attack, stroke, etc

What is CBD?

CBD comes from the cannabis or hemp plant; this plant being most commonly known for producing THC. The difference is that with how CBD is extracted from the plant, with that it doesn’t have the part of the plant that can cause a psychoactive effect like THC. CBD as a compound is used for medicinal purposes, generally used for insomnia, pain, inflammation, anxiety, depression, stress, etc. It is legal in most states in the USA (most states require it to be used medicinally), which helps make sure it’s accessible to most people. The most common types of products that CBD is used in are gummies, creams/lotions, capsules, and tinctures (gummies being the most popular). CBD has been used to manage and reduce pain for centuries. CBD binds CB1 and CB2 neuropeptides and thus helps manage and relieve pain and inflammation.

While generally considered safe, CBD may cause drowsiness, faintness, nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, and, in very rare instances, damage to the liver. While these side effects are possible, they are not usually common in most people. Though it’s recommended to be careful using CBD oil specifically with other medications. This is normally only an issue while taking a tincture due to that going through your blood stream instead of through the stomach or skin. This is because the CBD can up the dose of the medication, which can be dangerous for heart medication or blood pressure medications. This can be avoided by taking your pharmaceuticals and CBD two hours apart from each other, so they do not interact.

Can they be used together?

As you can see, both ibuprofen and CBD can help combat pain and inflammation. However, unlike CBD, which can be taken daily as part of your daily supplements, ibuprofen should not exceed ten days or as advised by the doctor. Using both at the same time can help you with your symptoms, it’s recommended that if you take both, take them in smaller doses so they work together well. Both CBD and ibuprofen are anti-inflammatory compounds and pain relievers. Although there have been no reported interactions between ibuprofen and CBD, CBD may affect the efficacy of the latter when taken at the same time, especially in large doses.

We always recommend speaking with your doctor or a specialist if you ever have any concerns on CBD or other medications.

Vitamins and minerals are a very important way for us to stay healthy. Our immune systems and our overall bodies need these to help keep us functioning. Many of the foods and drinks we consume provide some form of vitamins in them that help keep us healthy as well as supplements. And there are even a few additional health products that help provide these for our bodies as well as food and supplements. In today’s blog, we will be discussing ingredients from Immune Essentials Immunity Support, and how they can improve your day to day life. These ingredients being: Elderberry, Echinacea, Zinc, Colloidal, Silver, and Vitamins C, D, E and B6.

First, we will start with Elderberry. Elderberries are one of the most commonly used medicinal plants in the world. The berries and flow of the elderberry plant are packed with antioxidants and vitamins that can help boost your immune system. They could help tame inflammation, lessen stress, and help protect your heart, too. Some experts recommend elderberry to help prevent and ease cold and flu symptoms. However, the raw berries, bark, and leaves of the plant are also known to be poisonous and cause stomach problems. So be careful if you ever decide to eat them.

Next, we have Echinacea. The Echinacea, or purple coneflower, is the name of a group of flower plants in the daisy family They’re native to North America where they grow in prairies and open, wooded areas. Both the plant’s upper parts and roots are used in tablets, tinctures, extracts and even teas. Echinacea plants contain an impressive variety of active compounds, such as caffeic acid, alkamides, phenolic acids, rosmarinic acid, polyacetylenes and many more. Several laboratory and animal studies suggest that echinacea contains active substances that boost immune function, relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and have hormonal, antiviral, and antioxidant effects. Because of this, specialized
herbalists may recommend echinacea to treat urinary tract infections, vaginal yeast (candida) infections, ear infections (also known as otitis media), athlete’s foot, sinusitis, hay fever (also called allergic rhinitis), as well as slow-healing wounds. Initial studies in the lab suggest echinacea may help prevent colon tumors when combined with cichoric acid. One study even suggests that echinacea extract utilized an
antiviral action on the development of recurrent cold sores triggered by the herpes simplex virus (HSVI) when taken prior to infection.

Following that, we have Zinc. Zinc supports a number of functions in the human body. As well as supporting the immune system, it enables the body to make proteins and DNA, contributes to wound healing, and plays a role in childhood growth and development. This mineral has also been shown to help with chronic disease, neurological symptoms, osteoporosis, age related degeneration, sexual health, and more. Zinc occurs naturally in many foods, such as beans, meat, and fish. It is also available as a dietary supplement. Generally, you can get enough Zinc in your system through your diet and maybe a supplement, otherwise your body doesn’t require as much as you may think. The recommended dietary intake for adult women is 8 milligrams (mg) per day and 11 mg for men, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). That amount can come from zinc-rich foods, such as oysters, red meat, crab, and lobster, or from supplements.

Then we have Colloidal Silver. The exact way colloidal silver works is not fully understood. But what we do know is that it’s known as a natural anti-inflammatory that works fast to reduce swelling, repair inflammation in the skin or body. Colloidal silver can benefit people as a nasal spray that kills staph aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections that could directly cause sinusitis and allergies. Colloidal silver can kill certain germs by destroying proteins, which is why it was previously used in wound dressings. But silver has no known function in the body and is not an essential mineral. Though in small doses with other compounds, can be safe to have in your system and can provide the antibacterial benefits needed. It is generally not recommended to take large amounts of silver unless you consult your doctor first due to it being dangerous to take it in large amounts.

Finally, we have Vitamins C, D, E, and B6. We will talk about each one individually, starting with vitamin C. Vitamin C is an important vitamin, meaning your body can’t produce it by itself. Yet, it has many roles and has been linked to impressive health benefits. It’s water-soluble and found in many fruits and vegetables, including oranges, strawberries, kiwi fruit, bell peppers, broccoli, kale, and spinach. The
advised daily intake for vitamin C is 75 mg for women and 90 mg for men. While it’s commonly advised to get your vitamin C intake from foods, many people turn to supplements to meet their needs. Usually because they want to guarantee they get the amount they need in their system. Vitamin C is an incredible antioxidant that can strengthen your body’s natural defenses. Antioxidants are molecules that boost the immune system. They do so by protecting cells from harmful molecules called free radicals. When free radicals accumulate, they can promote a state known as oxidative stress, which has been linked to many chronic diseases. Studies show that consuming more vitamin C can increase your blood antioxidant levels by up to 30%. This helps the body’s natural defenses fight inflammation. Now vitamin D. Vitamin D is crucial for various reasons, including sustaining healthy bones and teeth. It may also protect against a range of diseases and conditions, such as type 1 diabetes. In spite of its name, vitamin D is not a vitamin, but a prohormone, or precursor of a hormone. Vitamins are nutrients that the body cannot create, and so a person must consume them in the diet. However, the body is able to produce vitamin D. Vitamin D plays a significant role in the regulation of calcium and maintenance of phosphorus levels in the blood. These factors are important for maintaining healthy bones. People need vitamin D to allow the intestines to absorb and reclaim calcium that the kidneys would otherwise excrete. In adults, vitamin D deficiency develops itself as osteomalacia, or softening of the bones. Osteomalacia results in poor bone density and muscular weakness. A vitamin D deficiency can also present as osteoporosis, for which over 53 million people in the United States either seek treatment or face an increased risk.

Let’s move on to vitamin E. This vitamin can be naturally found in some foods, added to others, and is available as a dietary supplement. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antioxidant that can help defend your body from oxidative stress. It may be useful in inhibiting or treating the symptoms of chronic inflammatory conditions such as diabetes and osteoarthritis. Still, more research is needed before any definitive
conclusions can be made. Generally, people get enough vitamin E through diet, but supplements do exist. There may be some side effects to ingesting too much vitamin E over a longer period of time, and vitamin E can interact with certain medications if you’re not careful.

And finally for this section, vitamin B6! Vitamin B6, also known as pyridoxine, is a water-soluble vitamin that your body needs for several functions. It’s important to protein, fat and carbohydrate metabolism and the creation of red blood cells and neurotransmitters. Your body cannot produce vitamin B6, so you must obtain it from foods or supplements. Most people get enough vitamin B6 through their diet, but
several people may be at risk for deficiency. Consuming adequate amounts of vitamin B6 is important for optimal health and may even prevent and treat chronic diseases. Low levels of vitamin B6 in older adults has been linked to signs of depression, but research is still looking into how B6 can be effective when helping mood disorders. Vitamin B6 may also be able to help with brain functionality as well.
Along with mood disorders, B6 has been shown to help with conditions like Alzheimer’s and memory impairments by decreasing the homocysteine levels that have been associated with these conditions.

However, studies have not yet fully proven the effectiveness of B6 in improving brain health. It as also `been shown to add to the prevention of cancer and improves your overall eye health on top of that.

Furthermore, all of these compounds put together can help make a healthy blend to help your immune support and give you a better quality of life through better health. At AHS, we have many specialists and a nurse on staff to help answer any questions you may have.

We all have days where we need a little boost to help our days be better, and plenty of times where we feel like we need a change to our quality of life. Sometimes we have little aches and pains that need relief. Or we have anxiety that just keeps persisting and we want it to settle down. That’s where CBD can come in and help out! This chemical compound has many different medicinal properties that help the body in day-to-day care, especially those who have chronic conditions. Though, how can CBD help me if I don’t have a chronic condition? How does it improve my overall care in ways that regular medicine can’t? In this blog, we will talk about what CBD is and what it can do in those situations.

CBD, or Cannabidiol, is one of the many active compounds found in the cannabis plant. Tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as THC, is another active compound and the most well-known, thanks to its psychoactive properties, this compound being the one that gets you “high.” Luckily, CBD is nonpsychoactive and has many of the same medical benefits as THC. This allows you to take advantage of the therapeutic benefits without leaving you with the inebriated feeling that often goes hand in hand with THC. There has also been research that has shown that CBD is a very powerful painkiller and has anti-inflammatory properties that help make internal and external pain much more manageable. What’s also nice about this compound is that it is not addictive and very safe for you to take. Even if you take too much, at worst you will have a headache or diarrhea. When it comes to the medicinal properties of CBD, there are different ways to take it.

For example, at AHS, we have products that can be ingested (such as our gummies) that can help with internal inflammation and anxiety! Our SoCal Peach Rings are a good example of this. If you have a stomachache, are having high anxiety, or are having extreme stress, this gummy can help reduce the symptoms you are having in about half an hour or so (though it can work differently for every individual.) It doesn’t always make the symptoms go away completely but can help reduce said symptoms to make it much more manageable. In cases where you need something a little more generalized/stronger for overall use, we have our CBD tinctures. The tinctures are a CBD oil that is put under your tongue for about thirty seconds to a minute. This oil works well throughout the entire body and connects to the brain’s CB1 and CB2 receptors. All humans are born with something called an endocannabinoid system (ECS), this system in the brain is responsible for so many of our day-to-day functions. Some of these functions including sleep, mood appetite, memory, etc. While experts are still learning more and more about these functions every day, but what we do know is incredible. Did you know that all humans have this endocannabinoid system in them even if they don’t use any form of cannabis? Everyone is born with this system and is in a homeostasis when we are born. Over time, our brains can get out of this homeostasis and become unbalanced, that’s where CBD can come in to help rebalance everything and put you mind and body into a healthier state. We have another blog coming out soon that will go into further detail on this topic!

Our bodies being in that homeostasis is good regardless of condition and can help our bodies stay in an actively healthier state. While not all CBD products can accomplish this, a lot of them can help you get closer to that point. Each item has a different use, some better for pain, others better for sleep.

At out store, we have specialists that can answer any questions about any conditions you may be having, or if your having smaller conditions that you don’t want to take medications for. If you have further questions, we also have a nurse on staff to make sure that CBD is safe to take if you are taking other medications or just need a general recommendation for CBD.

Insect bites are an absolute pain, especially when it feels like you can escape the itching and scratching.
But what if there was a potential solution that was medicinal creams or medication? Well, we may have
the solution for you! In this blog post, we will discuss bug bites, how they can affect someone, and what
CBD can do to help relieve the pain/discomfort.

So, how do bug bites affect the human body? When someone is stung or bitten by an insect, there is
generally high levels of pain and/or discomfort. Depending on the type of bug, some bites can lead to
infections, allergic reactions, illnesses, etc.. In the case you experience any serious symptoms, go to a
local doctor immediately to get treated. When a bug bites or stings you, their saliva, or the venom that
they inject causes an immune system response. For most people, the direct response is redness and
swelling, followed by itching and soreness. People who are sensitive or allergic to an insect’s venom may
go into anaphylactic shock, a life-threatening condition. Luckily, in most cases, A bite or a sting will cause fairly minor symptoms. There are a number of insects and spiders that bite or sting. This includes ticks, mites, bedbugs, fleas, lice, horse flies, mosquitos, black flies, bees, yellow jackets, hornets, fire ants, and wasps. For most people, being stung or bitten by a bug is a minor inconvenience that results in redness, inflammation, pain, and itchiness. But even though these symptoms go away after a few days or a week, it can be hard to not let a bug bite drive you crazy.

CBD can help you stop focusing on the bite or sting by alleviating some of the more bothersome symptoms. CBD works well due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Scientists have determined that CBD may help to reduce both pain and inflammation alike.

CBD is extracted from the cannabis-based hemp plant and is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid. This
cannabinoid is said to interact with various cannabinoid receptors present in our Endocannabinoid
System. Our ECS helps in maintaining homeostasis in our body and CBD by interacting with these ECS
receptors helps in treating health issues related to pain, mood, appetite, immune system, brain, and
more. CBD or Cannabidiol is an amazing and one of the most popular natural treatments which are
gaining attention these days. This is because this cannabinoid has a variety of medicinal and healing
properties in treating a variety of health issues. In this case, the anti-inflammatory properties are
unbelievably valuable for your skin.

At A Healthy Solution Wellness Boutique, we recommend our Miller Healer 1000mg Salve stick for these
nasty bug bites. It can be easily applied to the skin and can help reduce symptoms as soon as half an
hour after it is applied! CBD is an anti-inflammatory so after you apply the salve to the area, it should
bring down any redness or swelling you may be having. It can also stop any itchiness you may be
experiencing.

This topical CBD salve, when applied to the affected area, is easily absorbed, and helps in relieving the
pain and inflammation within a few minutes. This topical skin balm has its effective utility for burns or
wounds and is perfect for a first-aid outfit. It also is safe to use for pregnant women, individuals, and
pets. Always consult your primary care physician before starting a new treatment. Our team of
specialists are always available to provide you with education and assist you with any questions
regarding CBD and any other cannabinoids you may be curious about.

Roughly 60 million Americans are affected by Insomnia each year and the condition appears to be more common in women and people over the age of 65. Insomnia is a sleep disorder that is characterized by difficulty falling and/or
staying asleep. Symptoms of Insomnia include daytime sleepiness, lack of concentration, slowness in activity, depression, headache, and irritability.

Treatment for insomnia includes cognitive behavioral therapy, light therapy, and prescribed medications. Medications used to treat insomnia include Zolpidem, Temazepam, Lorazepam, Eszopiclone, Trazodone, Diphenhydramine, Doxylamine, Mirtazapine and Amitriptyline. Each prescribed medication contains negative side
effects that include dizziness, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, headache, muscle pain, amnesia, numbness, blurred vision, depression, irritability, confusion, aggression, hallucinations, skin rash, flu symptoms, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, weight gain and breast swelling. CBN, also known as Cannabinol, is a cannabinoid that have been seen and identified from the cannabis plant.

Although it acts a lot like CBD, its origin is different, as it is the product of oxidization. Manufacturers expose THC to heat and light, which breaks it down, leaving behind CBN. Because of this, no strains of cannabis contain high levels of CBN themselves. CBN comes from the breakdown of the psychoactive cannabinoid THC, while it can be mildly psychoactive itself, it does not produce a high like THC at all. CBN is created when THC-A oxidizes. CBN can be used
effectively as a sleep aid or sedative. Some products at AHS that we carry with CBN to help with Insomnia include our Sleep Well CBD/CBN Gummies. Another product we carry that can help with Insomnia are our Coastal Clouds CBD: CBN Sleep Capsules.

Always consult your primary care physician before starting a new treatment.

Our team of specialists are always available to provide you with education and assist you with any questions regarding CBD or in this case, CBN.

Roughly 60 million Americans are affected by insomnia each year and the condition appears to be more common in women and people over the age of 65. Insomnia is a sleep disorder that is characterized by difficulty falling and/or staying asleep.

Symptoms of Insomnia include daytime sleepiness, lack of concentration, slowness in activity, depression, headache and irritability. Treatment for insomnia includes cognitive behavioral therapy, light therapy and prescribed medications.

Medications used to treat insomnia include Zolpidem, Temazepam, Lorazepam, Eszopiclone, Trazodone, Diphenhydramine, Doxylamine, Mirtazapine and Amitriptyline. Each prescribed medication contains negative side effects that include dizziness, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, headache, muscle pain, amnesia, numbness, blurred vision, depression, irritability, confusion, aggression, hallucinations, skin rash, flu symptoms, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, weight gain and breast swelling.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-psychoactive compound derived from the hemp plant known for its potential therapeutic effects. Research shows that CBD may help alleviate insomnia without the negative side effects of prescribed medications. CBD may affect sleep directly by interacting with receptors in the brain that govern the body’s daily sleep/wake cycles. CBD may also help alleviate insomnia by combating the causes of sleeplessness.

A common cause of insomnia is anxiety and stress. CBD helps regulate cortisol, a stress hormone, which has a significant impact on sleep cycles. Studies found that CBD is beneficial for anxiety-related disorders and an increase in sleep quality. For those who struggle with sleeplessness due to chronic or acute pain, CBD offers a natural alternative to pharmaceutical pain relievers.

CBD helps reduce pain-induced sleeplessness by working on the symptoms themselves rather than providing a sedative effect like many sleep-aids.

Our AHS 1500mg Tincture can be taken sublingually along with Kurativ 1000mg CBD/CBD Gummies (25mg each) to help alleviate insomnia.

Dosing will depend on your level of insomnia, level 3-6 should take the 25mg gummies, level 7-8 should take the 1500mg tincture and level 9-10 should take both.

Always consult your primary care physician before starting a new treatment.

Our team of specialists are always available to provide you with education and assist you with any questions regarding CBD.

Nearly 125 million Americans live with inflammatory conditions and 61 million have more than one. When you are injured, your immune system reacts by causing inflammation that helps your body heal. However, in some cases inflammation becomes chronic, which means it sticks around longer than the time required to heal your injury.

Many adults are prescribed opioids to manage pain. For some clients, pain relief is essential to being able to function normally, but opioid medications usually do little more than mask symptoms and control pain for a short time. More importantly, with long-term use, painkillers can lead to an opioid dependence, which can have devastating effects on clients and their families.

Even when they are used for a short time, prescription opioids may cause side effects that make it difficult to perform daily activities. Studies show that CBD may help alleviate chronic and acute pain and inflammation without the negative side effects of prescribed medications.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-psychoactive compound derived from the hemp plant known for its potential therapeutic effects. The main way that CBD may help reduce inflammation is by supporting and regulating our body’s immune system. The receptors for CBD, called CB2 receptors, are located mostly within the body, specifically in the immune system.

This internal cannabinoid system, called the endocannabinoid system (ECS), makes sure the immune system does not mistakenly cause inflammation in various areas of the body. When combined with this compound’s other properties, CBD may be a powerful supplement for your health.

Cannabidiol has been shown to not only be anti-inflammatory, but also antioxidant, anti-nausea, pain relieving, and anti-seizure. All of these effects combined with immune support make CBD a great treatment for many autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.

There are plenty of products that we recommend for chronic or acute pain and inflammation. Our AHS 1500mg Isolate Tincture, Miller Healer 2000mg Tincture or AHS 3000mg Supreme Tincture can be taken sublingually depending on your inflammatory condition and pain levels.

Our 2500mg Custom Cream can also be applied topically to affected areas to help alleviate pain and inflammation. Always consult your primary care physician before starting a new treatment.

Our team of specialists are always available to provide you with education and assist you with any questions you may have regarding CBD.

IBS affects between 25 and 45 million people in the United States and about 2 out of 3 IBS sufferers are female. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a disorder that affects the large intestine and is characterized by abdominal pain or discomfort as well as altered bowel movement. Symptoms include abdominal cramping, constipation, diarrhea, intestinal gas, bloating, nausea and fatigue.

Treatments for IBS include fiber supplements, laxatives, anti-diarrheal medications, anticholinergic medications and pain medications. Some Medications specifically for IBS are Alosetron, Eluxadoline, Rifaximin, Lubiprostone and Linaclotide.

Each of the prescribed medications contain negative side effects which include vomiting, bloody stool, upper respiratory tract infection, bronchitis, headache, dizziness, heart burn, joint and back pain as well as swelling in hands, feet and torso.

Clinical studies that link CBD for IBS have shown that CBD could help suppress nausea, promote a healthy appetite, reduce intestinal inflammation, regulate pain and alleviate symptoms of IBS. CBD can regulate various physiological functions via the endocannabinoid system (ECS).

Its most important function in IBS is how it works as an anti-inflammatory agent. CBD is an interesting compound because it can mediate reactive gliosis in the ECS without having any undesirable psychoactive effects. Our 1500mg AHS Tincture is perfect for people who suffer with IBS due to its anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties.

Our team of CBD specialists are always available to provide you with education and assist you with any questions you might have regarding CBD

The excitement that comes along with summer can make anyone smile. The endless BBQ’s, swimming, and beach days. Although with Summer comes more bugs and let’s be honest nobody likes bugs especially the ones that bite. Bug bites/ stings can cause very uncomfortable and sometimes painful reactions. Common symptoms include pain, swelling, itching, redness and blisters on skin. The Symptoms vary depending on the type of insect bite or sting. The one thing they have in common is they are very uncomfortable.

Normally when we get bitten or stung common treatments are used such as pain killers, antihistamines to prevent itching and applying an ice pack to bring down swelling. CBD is known for its ability to relieve pain and inflammation which is common side effects related to bug bites/ stings. Unlike NSAIDs which are usually taken to relieve pain and inflammation, CBD does not cause side effects or harm to your body with long term use.

Research has shown that CBD could also help in clearing out any bacteria or virus that may have been obtained when bitten or stung. The constant itching or pain can keep us up at night which leads me to another reason why CBD is so amazing. CBD helps relax the body along with helping relieve pain, inflammation, and itchingto help you get some sleep even under the uncomfortable circumstances.

Our Healthy Solution Salve/ Cream has shown high success rates in its ability to help relieve and heal insect bites/ stings.
