What is pericardial effusion?
Pericardial effusion is a medical disease where a sac-like structure called the pericardium – which supports the heart, continues to build fluid rapidly. A patient with Pericardial effusion could withhold 150- 200ml of fluid whilst the average healthy patient will only have about 15-50ml. In most cases the disease could be life-threatening as too much fluid causes cardiac arrest -or heart attack. If the build up of fluid happens too quickly the patient is at risk of heart failure. The fluid heavy sac disperses a large weight onto the heart causing it to have trouble working accordingly. Much of our light-headedness stems from low blood pressure, then shock where the body has finally reached its limit.

Symptoms To Watch For:

Sudden collapse

Very low blood pressure

Light-headedness

Chest pain or discomfort

Muffled heart sounds

Jugular vein distension

Shortness of breath, restlessness

Causes:
In most if not all cases Pericardial Effusion is caused by immune system malfunctions -or general body displacement.

1. Infections (viral, bacterial, or tuberculosis)

Viral infections (like coxsackievirus, HIV, or influenza) are the most common cause. They irritate the pericardium, leading to inflammation and fluid buildup.

Bacterial infections are less common but more severe — can cause purulent (pus-filled) effusions.

Tuberculosis (TB) can cause chronic effusions, especially in countries where TB is more common.

2. Inflammatory diseases (Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, etc.)

These are autoimmune diseases, where the immune system attacks the body’s own tissues — including the pericardium.

This leads to chronic inflammation, which can result in fluid buildup over time.

3. Cancer (Metastasis to the pericardium)

Certain cancers, like lung, breast, lymphoma, or leukemia, can spread to the pericardium.

Tumors cause irritation, leakage from blood vessels, or block lymph drainage — all leading to effusion..

These are often large and can be bloody (called hemorrhagic effusions).

4. Kidney failure (uremia)

When the kidneys fail, toxins build up in the blood (uremia).

These toxins irritate the pericardium, leading to what’s called uremic pericarditis, which can cause large effusions.

5. Heart surgery or trauma

Surgery near the heart can disturb the pericardium, leading to inflammation and fluid buildup.

Trauma (like a car accident or stab wound) can cause blood to collect in the pericardial sac — a dangerous condition called hemopericardium.

6. Medications or Radiation Therapy

Drugs like hydralazine, isoniazid, or some chemotherapy agents can cause drug-induced lupus or direct irritation.

Radiation to the chest (for cancer) can damage the pericardium, causing chronic inflammation and fluid accumulation.

How CBD will help!
CBD may help manage pericardial effusion, especially when it’s caused by inflammation or autoimmune conditions, through its anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects. It interacts with the endocannabinoid system, particularly CB2 receptors on immune cells, which can reduce the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines (small proteins released by certain cells in your body — especially immune cells — that act like messengers to help regulate the immune system and inflammation). This helps calm the inflammation around the pericardium, potentially slowing or preventing further fluid buildup. In autoimmune-related effusions (like those from lupus or rheumatoid arthritis), CBD may help regulate the immune system’s overactivity, reducing the attack on the heart lining.

More Benefits:

1. Relieves Chest Discomfort or Pain
– Acts on pain receptors and may ease inflammation-related chest pressure

2. Reduce Anxiety and Stress
– Helps calm the nervous system, which may be helpful for patients with chronic or cancer- related effusions

3. Improves Sleep and Rest
– Supports better sleep in patients dealing with chronic illness or discomfort

4. Potential Antioxidant Effects
– May protect heart tissues from oxidative stress during inflammation

A Healthy Solution Recommends:

5000mg Full Spectrum CBD Oil (tincture)
Kurativ CBD:CBG Gummies (watermelon or bears)

In 2019, roughly 1.8 million people were diagnosed with cancer in the United States. Cancer is a disease in which abnormal cells divide uncontrollably and destroy body tissue. Cancer develops when the body’s normal control mechanism stops working. Old cells do not die and instead grow out of control, forming new, abnormal cells.

These extra cells may form a mass of tissue, called a tumor. Cancer is characterized by persistent cough, blood in saliva, bloody stool, anemia, blood in urine, persistent lumps, swollen glands, unusual vaginal bleeding, fever, weight loss, headaches, back pain, pelvic pain and much more.

There are many different types of cancer, but the most common types include breast, prostate, basal cell, melanoma, colon, lung, leukemia and lymphoma.

Treatment for cancer includes surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy.Cancer treatments such as chemo and radiation can produce an array of side effects, such as weakened immune system, bruising, hair loss, nausea, vomiting, neuropathy, labored breathing, constipation, diarrhea, fatigue and different types of body aches and pain.

Research shows that cannabinoids in marijuana may slow cancer growth, inhibit formation of new blood cells that feed a tumor, and help manage pain, fatigue, nausea, and other side effects. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the chemical responsible for most of marijuana’s psychological effects.

One study found that cancer cells died when they were exposed to THC concluding that THC induces apoptosis (cell death) in brain cancer. Studies in several countries would show that THC and other marijuana-derived compounds, known as cannabinoids, are effective not only for cancer-symptom management, they also confer a direct antitumoral effect.

THC slows tumor growth in common lung cancer and significantly reduces the ability of the cancer to spread.THC also selectively targets and destroys tumor cells while leaving healthy cells untouched.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is the non-psychoactive component of the marijuana plant. CBD is a potent inhibitor of breast cancer cell proliferation, metastasis, and tumor growth.

Studies show that CBD kills breast cancer cells and destroys malignant tumors by switching off expression of the ID-1 gene, a protein that appears to play a major role as a cancer cell conductor. Studies that focused on leukemia found that THC and CBD both induce apoptosis (cell death) in leukemic cell lines.

CBD and THC offers hope of a non-toxic therapy that could treat aggressive forms of cancer without any of the painful side effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

CBD Suppository

As the market for CBD continues to boom, there is an expansion in different delivery methods our body can heal and process CBD. An often forgotten or “overlooked” (maybe because it deals with some private matters) intake are CBD suppositories. There is nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about CBD intake through some of the places “the sun don’t shine”. I mean, we get it, it is easier to talk about the few drops of CBD you swallow in the morning rather than inserting it in some private orifices. But all awkwardness aside, suppositories are one of the most powerful ways we metabolize this plant-based medicine.

Delivery Method

So first let’s talk about why CBD was created in suppository form. Suppository intake provide high bio-availability. Bio-availability is the level of nutrients that are properly absorbed into your blood. High bio-availability means you are reaping the most nutrients from the CBD, aka the most bang for your buck! The mucous membranes within the rectum and vaginal cavity are highly sensitive and porous. This direct contact allows the CBD to quickly hop onto our body’s transportation and distribution pathway and run course throughout the systems. In contrast, taking CBD sublingually, although still very effective, has to pass through the liver where some of the potency is lost. As consumers, often the first question we ask is “How strong is it” or “How many mg’s of CBD”. Along with these questions, it is important to also choose a delivery method that would be most effective.

Suppositories are the second quickest intake (behind vaping). The average consumer will notice relief within 10-15 minutes, with effects lasting between 6-8 hours. This fast absorption through inter-cellular walls allows it to quickly communicate giving an “analgesic” effect to relieve pain and irritation to nearby organs: ovaries, testicles, stomach, colon, and pancreas.

Who should take it?

As women, our journey through life is gifted with many different processes of nature… one of them being menstrual cycles. A natural and beautiful process of shedding, that sometimes, more often than not, leaves us with painful cramps or uterus and pelvic pains. CBD suppositories inserted vaginally are incredibly healing to those who suffer from menstrual pain, pelvic inflammation, bowel inflammation, postpartum pain, endometriosis, or vaginal dryness. Not limited to specifically women, this insertion also aids in relief of hemorrhoids and bowel inflammation when inserted rectally.

Another common ailment showing positive feedback with CBD suppositories are clients undergoing chemotherapy who have difficulty holding down substances due to extreme nausea. Individuals who have suffered from a stroke, or have diseases such as Parkinson’s, ALS, or MS that may have difficulty with the muscular movement of oral intake are great candidates for this delivery route. End of life or palliative care often find suppository as an effective delivery method. Suppositories can also be ideal for clients who have to undergo surgery and are not permitted to eat before or after an operation takes place.

So How do I do it?

The biggest question, how do I do it? To start, suppository should always be refrigerated, is it important they are firm when inserting. For rectal insertion, it is best to lie down sideways, pull knees up to your chest, and use index finger to slide the pointed end in first. After, to avoid slipping out, clench your buttock muscles for a few seconds. Stay laying down for 2-3 minutes. Note, is it possible to for mild leakage, so it is best to do before bed or when you will be lying down for extended time. Vaginally insertion works similar to tampon insertion.

For further questions, or concerns our staff is more than happy to help you find the best CBD wellness routine for you!
