Headaches, it’s one of those things that we can experience frequently at any time, and at any age. It can happen for simple reasons and be mild, or it can happen in more severe conditions and be painful. In this article, we will talk about how CBD can help your headaches symptoms, so you can feel relief faster and more efficiently.

Headaches and cause:

Headaches are a condition where your head gets a feeling of pain or throbbing that can cause anywhere from mild discomfort, to major pain. This is determined by the type of headache you may have. There are Migraines, Cluster headaches, and Tension-type headaches. Here are a few ways that headaches can occur:

Food sensitivities: Food and drink release neurotransmitters, which can cause headaches in some people. Common food triggers include aspartame, caffeine, chocolate, alcohol, and cheese to name a few.

Hormones: When estrogen levels drop (especially right before your period), you may be more likely to get a headache. Keep track of your cycle and plan when you can.

Posture: Your mom was right! Sit up straight to keep blood flowing (and move around when you can if you spend extended periods of time bent over a desk).

Lack of physical activity: Even though over-exertion can increase your risk for headaches, staying sedentary doesn’t help either. As with most things in life, moderation is key. Talk to your doctor before beginning or revising any exercise regimen.

Physical activity: Take it easy in the gym. Pushing too hard can result in an exertional headache from the swelling of blood vessels in your head, neck and scalp.

Medication: Some prescription medications may have the potential to trigger a headache. If you notice an increase, talk to your doctor.

Eating & sleeping patterns: Eat when you’re hungry. Sleep enough (not too much or too little), and don’t sleep in an odd position in a cold room – it can make your muscles spasm.

Noise: It’s not just loud, repetitive sounds. Even lower levels or continuous noise can hurt. Calming music and headphones may help.

Glare: Brightness from your computer screen, sunlight or overhead lights can make things painful. Turn them down and try adding a desk lamp.

Anxiety: Stress can take a toll on you. Breathe, relax, and take a stroll.

Cbd and how it helps:

CBD is one of the most well-known compounds in hemp and cannabis sativa plants. While delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) causes an intoxicatingly psychoactive high, CBD alone does not. CBD is a compound that helps reduce pain and inflammation in the body, as well as helps with anxiety and stress. This combination of benefits can help with headache prevention and recovery. When it comes to headaches, CBD can be used topically on your temples to help relax the tension and pain from the outside. When examining CBD alone, studies show that cannabinoids can be an effective treatment for chronic pain. CBD has been shown that it can lead to a reduction in migraine days and help decrease the impact of migraines. Beyond pain relief, CBD may help reduce nausea and inflammation often associated with migraines.

With whatever treatment you choose, if your symptoms persist or get worse, please contact a health care professional to help you with your treatment.

ADHD symptoms for women, and how they can affect YOU!

Many people in this life have gone their whole lives feeling a bit… different. They feel unable to focus, unable to properly regulate themselves in their personal lives, hyper fixate on different topics, have difficulties in their relationships, etc. For some people, this is their normal, and you may be wondering, why? How? Well, these may be symptoms of ADHD/ADD. In this article, we will discuss the symptoms of this condition, and how it could be affecting you.

Before we go into the details, it should be known that these types of conditions are very much underdiagnosed in girls and women. Many of these neurodevelopmental conditions are either undiagnosed or misdiagnosed by doctors. If you have concerns about any symptoms that seem similar to those causing concerns, we always recommend doing your own research and speaking with a health professional for more details.

What is ADHD?
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by difficulty paying attention, hyperactivity/impulsivity, or it can be a combination of both. People with ADHD may struggle to impulse control, following directions, completing tasks, among other symptoms. ADHD is considered one of the most common mental conditions in children, with an estimated 6 million children ages 3 to 17 years having ever been diagnosed. While ADHD is usually diagnosed in childhood, there are still many people who go undiagnosed until adulthood.

How does ADHD affect Women?
ADHD can affect women in the following ways: Psychological distress, feelings of inadequacy, low self-esteem, and chronic stress. Often, women with ADHD feel that daily tasks may seem incredibly overwhelming, especially compared to the average person. Culturally, women are expected to take the role of someone who “has it all together”. So, for someone with ADHD, it makes it much harder to organize or plan, thus causing many societal pressures increase the feelings of stress. Undiagnosed or underdiagnosed ADHD in adults can look like missing
deadlines, having greater difficulty focusing, and problems organizing different parts of daily life. It can also look like having trouble regulating your emotions, causing life to feel even more chaotic.

It can end up affecting your relationships, day to day life, work, and school. Friendships can be hard to navigate because of the social rules that are overly complicated and don’t always make sense. Maybe you become easily snippy at another person because you aren’t able to regulate your feelings. Or you may be perceived as chattier about the topics you like, and more disinterested in topics you aren’t interested in, causing your mind to drift off. Sometimes, you can find yourself talking excessively (this can look like over-explaining yourself or “info-
dumping,” an informal term for talking at length about something you enjoy). You can also experience conversational self-restraint issues (you frequently interrupt people or finish their sentences).

Other conditions and ADHD:
While many people can only have ADHD, it is also possible to have other conditions in addition. The most common conditions being anxiety and depression. It is also possible to have other mood disorders. Substance use disorders, such as addiction to alcohol or drugs, anxiety
disorders (such as social anxiety disorder (SAD) or obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), sleep disorders, eating disorders (such as anorexia or bulimia), or even mood disorders (like depression or bipolar disorder).

How many people experience ADHD?
According to most studies, there is a 2 to 1 ratio of boys being diagnosed over girls in childhood. In adulthood, it becomes more likely for women to get a formal diagnosis. While research indicates that the condition is more common in boys and men, there is also evidence that it
often goes undiagnosed in women.

ADHD in women may be underdiagnosed for a few reasons:
Stereotypes of sex, gender, and behavior: ADHD-linked behaviors, particularly hyperactive/impulsive symptoms, are often considered more socially acceptable for boys and men. As a result, women may suppress or hide ADHD behaviors to fit in better.

Bias: Because ADHD is more common in men and boys, healthcare providers and educators may not look for the symptoms in women. That can make it harder for women to receive a correct diagnosis and treatment.

What can cause ADHD?
Researchers are continuing to examine why and how brain development is related to ADHD. However, they believe ADHD has a strong genetic link. If at least one of your parents has ADHD, your chances of having ADHD are higher, and then your children are also more likely to develop it. People who have ADHD are considered neurodivergent. That means that their brains develop and work differently than those who are neurotypical (which means that their brains develop, and work as expected). There has been additional evidence to show that brain
structure and brain chemistry, and hormones may cause some of the characteristics associated with ADHD.

What can be done to help?

There are many treatment plans that can be done to help with ADHD and its accompanying symptoms.

CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is a really good method to help those with ADHD symptoms to be able to regulate themselves and work on strategies to cope with these symptoms. Talking to another person can help reduce depression and anxiety symptoms that can occur as well.

Some people take medications to help them manage their symptoms. One of the most common medications used for ADHD is stimulants, some examples being methylphenidate and amphetamine. The purpose of stimulants is to boost and balance the brain chemical levels (aka
neurotransmitters). Other medications used to treat ADHD include nonstimulant atomoxetine and some antidepressants such as bupropion. Atomoxetine and antidepressants work slower than stimulants, but these may be advantageous if you can’t take stimulants due to health problems or if stimulants cause severe side effects. Though, we always like to inform people that just because this works for some people, it does not mean this method will work for everyone.

There are alternative medicines that can help in the CBD industry. Research is still being done on how cannabinoids help in terms of ADHD. As of now, it has been discovered that the compound called Cannabichromene (aka CBC) has shown decent results. CBC is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that is among the most abundant in the cannabis plant, following CBD and THC and several others. While CBC shares structural similarities with CBD, their properties differ significantly. It helps with reducing anxiety and depression symptoms in the
brain, allowing the adhd symptoms to be more at ease.

Regardless of how you would like to go about treatment, we always recommend doing your own additional research and speaking to a health care professional to make sure you are getting the care you need.

There are many medical conditions that can occur throughout our lifetime. Some of these conditions can be temporary, some of them can alter our lives forever. Regardless of the cause and duration, there is almost always a treatment plan to help you with recovery.
In today’s article, we will discuss the condition known as Bell’s Palsy: what it is and how it can be treated. As well as how CBD can help with treatment.
We always recommend speaking to a health care specialist if you are experiencing any unusual symptoms that are affecting your day-to-day life.

What exactly is Bell’s Palsy?

Bell’s palsy, also known as acute peripheral facial palsy, can occur at any age, and the exact cause is unknown. The symptoms can vary from mild to severe, depending on the person. They may include muscle twitching, weakness, or total loss of the ability to move one or, in rare cases, both sides of the face. Other symptoms include drooping of the eyebrow, a decrease in taste, and pain around the ear. Bell’s palsy can also cause an increase in sensitivity to sound known as hyperacusis. Symptoms usually begin to improve within a few weeks, with complete recovery in about six months. A small number of people continue to have some Bell’s palsy symptoms for life. Very rarely, Bell’s palsy can occur more than once. The nerve that controls facial muscles passes through a narrow corridor of bone on its way to the face. In Bell’s palsy, that nerve becomes inflamed and swollen — usually related to a viral infection. Besides facial muscles, the nerve affects tears, saliva, taste, and a small bone in the middle of the ear.

The cause of Bell’s palsy is uncertain, and it can occur at any age. Some of the risk factors include diabetes, a recent upper respiratory tract infection, and pregnancy. Although the exact reason Bell’s palsy occurs isn’t clear, it’s often related to having a viral infection. Viruses that have been linked to Bell’s palsy include viruses that cause: Cold sores and genital herpes (herpes simplex), Chickenpox and shingles (herpes zoster), Infectious mononucleosis (Epstein- Barr), Cytomegalovirus infections, Respiratory illnesses (adenovirus), German measles (rubella), Mumps (mumps virus), Flu (influenza B), & Hand-foot-and-mouth disease (coxsackievirus).

Corticosteroids, a steroid hormone medication, have been found to improve outcomes, while antiviral medications may be of a small additional benefit. The eye should be protected from drying up with the use of eye drops or an eyepatch.

What is CBD & how can it help?

CBD comes from the cannabis or hemp plant; this plant being most commonly known for producing THC. The difference is that with how CBD is extracted from the plant, with that it doesn’t have the part of the plant that can cause a psychoactive effect like THC. CBD as a compound is used for medicinal purposes, generally used for insomnia, pain, inflammation, anxiety, depression, stress, etc. It is legal in most states in the USA (most states require it to be used medicinally), which helps make sure it’s accessible to most people.

CBD can help this condition in a few ways. Although this is not a cure, it can help with a few symptoms that can occur due to this condition. There have been many studies done to demonstrate how CBD can help with numerous ailments, though testing has not been conducted specifically for Bell’s Palsy. Regardless, we will still examine how it can potentially alleviate your symptoms and help with recovery.

Let’s start with it being a neuroprotective antioxidant: CBD has neuroprotective antioxidant properties to reduce free radical damage such as stress and other toxins affecting nerve cell damage. Another thing that CBD is well known for is being an anti-inflammatory: When the facial nerve is compressed and swollen, the symptoms of Bell’s palsy may develop. With CBD having anti-inflammatory properties, it can also help to treat degenerative conditions. People suffering from Bell’s palsy often also suffer from headaches. Coming back to how CBD is used as an anti-inflammatory, CBD for Bell’s treatment has shown optimistic results for different types of headaches. It may not eliminate headaches completely, but there is a considerable reduction in the severity of the headache. CBD is also known for being helpful at reducing pain in the body. People suffering from Bell’s palsy also complain about facial and jaw pain related to the disease. So, CBD can be very useful in reducing that pain through a tincture or a topical product.

In many cases, Bell’s palsy does not need treatment as the symptoms clear up right away. But in a study done on 83 adults, 23 different medications were used to treat the symptoms. Out of all the medications, CBD has showed the most promise and brought the most relief.

Regardless of how you would like to go about your treatment, please consult a health care or CBD specialist to make sure that the treatment you choose is right for you.

By now, you may be familiar with CBD, and potentially CBG as well. Both compounds hold many medicinal properties to them, two big ones being lowering inflammation and lowering anxiety/stress symptoms. Though when paired together, they are able to do even more! In this blog, we will be discussing these two compounds and how they work well together. Both have unique properties that can help you with your care. At AHS, we are able to answer any additional questions you may have.

What are they?

CBD (cannabidiol) and CBG (cannabigerol) are cannabinoids, naturally occurring compounds found in cannabis plants. You may already know that both CBD and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) are the two most popular cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. For now, let’s continue seeing CBG in more detail, since that one is less known. Cannabigerol, or CBG, is one of more than 100 cannabinoids discovered in
hemp and cannabis plants. Young hemp plants create cannabigerolic acid (CBGA). As the plant develops, CBGA breaks down into cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) and tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA). These two compounds are then converted into CBD and THC. Any leftover CBGA is converted into CBG. It is still a fairly new compound in the world of cannabinoid research. From what has been shown in these studies, this compound has antibacterial, antidepressant, and anticancer properties. Meaning it can help with physical and mental wellness. CBG is also able to provide many of the medicinal properties as THC/ tetrahydrocannabinol, but without the psychoactive effect! CBG works by binding to both receptors (CB1 and CB2 receptors) of the endocannabinoid system, which influence inflammation, pain, and even heat sensitivity. Studies have also shown CBG's ability to fight nausea, increase appetite, regulate sleep, and even combat cancer-causing cells! CBG works really well as a pain reliever! This is because it reduces the pain and inflammation signals being sent to your brain. It’s able to do this by reducing the intensity of hormone-like lipids which are in charge of the inflammatory response and pain.

Why use them together?

Well, even though the compounds are similar, when paired together they can do a lot for your health. When CBD and CBG are paired together, they act synergistically to create a stronger effect compared to when they’re used alone. So they bring each other a lot more balance when they work together. It generates something called the entourage effect; this usually occurs when consuming a full spectrum hemp product. You can indicate which product has this combo when you see it has a “1:1” ratio. This means for every 1mg of CBD, you get 1mg of CBG as well. When put together, CBD and CBG can help with the following: Increase in focus, lowering anxiety and stress, boosting your mood, relieving general discomfort (physically and mentally), supporting appetite, helping with sleep, aiding stomach aches, helping with general pain/inflammation, and more! CBG helps with pain by being a GABA reuptake inhibitor. CBG’s ability to behave as a GABA reuptake inhibitor means that it can assist to maintain the levels of GABA in the brain and spinal cord. This is comparable to how selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) perform in their ability to maintain serotonin in the brain. Because CBG can help to inhibit the reuptake of GABA, a neurotransmitter that has been linked to pain reduction, it is possible for patients to use this cannabinoid in their pursuit of reduced pain.

AHS recommendations

-Kurativ CBD/CBG Tincture – 3300mg. This product has a 10:1 ratio of CBD:CBG and is a full spectrum product. This means this product has the legal limits of THC, 0.3%. This product also contains a bit of CBN, CBC, and CBDVA.

“Blending CBD & CBG helps create overall balance and regulates the body. When combined, these cannabinoids complement each other, and the effects are amplified. This Kurativ oil contains 1mg of CBG for every 10mg of CBD, plus an array of secondary cannabinoids.”

-Kurativ CBD/CBG Gummies – 1000mg. This product contains a 4:1 CBD:CBG ratio, with 0% THC. You can take this product any time of day when you’re feeling symptoms of stress, anxiety, or pain and can help you within 30-45 minutes, and stays in your system for 4-6 hours. We have two kinds: Apple/Peach Rings that are 50mg per piece, and Watermelon that is 25mg per piece.

“Kurativ CBD/CBG Gummies are a fun and delicious way to experience the power of cbd and cbg. Great for on-the-go relief. Available in bears, apple rings, peach rings, and our all-time favorite watermelon wedges. Try them all!”

What is colitis?

Colitis is inflammation in your colon, which is the main part of your large intestine. Your colon is the last leg of the journey your food takes through your digestive system. Inflammation in your colon can affect the way this journey ends, causing pain, diarrhea and sometimes blood in your poop. Inflammation is your body’s response to infection or injury. It causes swelling and tenderness in your tissues. This discomfort may be mild and reoccurring over a long period of time, or severe and appearing suddenly. Let’s look in what CBD/CBG is and how it helps with Colitis.

What is CBD and CBG?

Cannabidiol (CBD) and Cannabigerol (CBG) both have their own unique medical benefits, and when used together, you can get the best of both worlds as well as an interesting entourage effect. CBD and CBG are non-psychoactive compounds, meaning they will not produce the “high” feeling associated with THC. Just like CBD, the potential benefits of CBG are vast due to its interaction with the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS refers to receptors found throughout the body, and these CB1/CB2 receptors help regulate physiological processes such as pain, mood, sleep, digestion, and more. Cannabinoids like CBD, THC, and CBG bind to these receptors, interacting with these different areas of human health and bring homeostasis (balance) to the body.

Studies have found that CBG can potentially help with pain, depression, insomnia, anxiety, colon cancer, IBS, Crohn’s, inflammation, and much more. Some of the benefits of CBG overlap with CBD but when combined they produce an entourage effect. The entourage effect happens when CBD is ingested with other compounds from the cannabis plant like CBG, rather than in isolation. The theory is that by using the whole hemp plant rather than a singular aspect, there is a boost in the health benefits and overall therapeutic effect of cannabinoids.

How can CBD/CBG help with Colitis?

Cannabinoids, like CBD, express their therapeutic effects in the body through receptors in the ECS. The two primary endocannabinoid receptors are the CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB1 receptors are primarily distributed on neural tissue and the central nervous system. CB2 receptors mediate the functions concerning the immune system. A study in 2001 mentioned that CB1 receptors are said to play a role in controlling gastrointestinal motility and gastric intestinal secretion. This statement is supported by at least two studies on mice, which demonstrated that CB1 and CB2 receptors are crucial in modulating colonic inflammation.

Although both CB1 and CB2 receptors are considered mediators of inflammation in the ECS, the CB2 receptor seems to be the primary regulator of inflammation and immune functions. When CB2 receptors are activated, they trigger a response which fights inflammation in the body. This anti-inflammatory reaction is said to help treat chronic inflammatory diseases, one of which is colitis. In addition to relieving intestinal inflammation, CBG may also help relieve any pain or discomfort through its analgesic properties. This might make it a great option for stomach aches as well.

Best way to take CBD/CBG for Colitis?

Now that we have learned that CBD/CBG may help reduce inflammation and pain caused by Colitis, we can now focus on the best way to consume it. CBG is best consumed orally by eating a gummy or using CBD Oil in a capsule, smoothie, or drink. This is due to CBG connecting to your CB2 receptors which oversee the motility, pain, and inflammatory response within your intestines. Consuming CBG orally allows it to be processed via the digestive system which is where the relief is needed most.

There are many different chemical compounds out in the world, each one having a unique effect. In today’s article, we will be discussing different cannabinoids and how they can help you with your everyday care. We will be going over CBD, CBG, CBN, Delta-8, and Delta-9.

CBD: CBD, or Cannabidiol, is one of the many active compounds found in the cannabis plant. Tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as THC, is another active compound and the most well-known, thanks to its psychoactive properties, this compound being the one that gets you “high.” Luckily, CBD is nonpsychoactive and shares many of the medical benefits as THC. This allows you to inherit the benefits without leaving you with the intoxicated feeling that often goes hand in hand with THC. There has also been research that has shown that CBD is a very effective painkiller and has anti-inflammatory properties. This can help make internal and external pain much more manageable. What’s also nice about this compound is that it is not addictive and very safe for you to take. Even if you take too much, at worst you will have a headache, indigestion, or grogginess. When it comes to the medicinal properties of CBD, there are many different ways to take it, including gummies, oil, capsules, and cream. The main uses for CBD would be: pain, inflammation, anxiety, depression, mood balance, seizures, and more!

CBG: Cannabigerol, or CBG, is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid generally abundant in low-THC and high- CBD cannabis strains, including hemp. Like THC, CBG reacts with the cannabinoid receptors in the brain. CBG is the inspiration for other cannabinoids. While CBD has a relatively low affinity for cannabinoid receptors and interacts mostly with the endocannabinoid system on an indirect basis, CBG is thought to interact directly with the brain’s CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors. CBG works to fight inflammation, pain, nausea and works to slow the proliferation of cancer cells. CBG has been called ‘inactive’ when compared to THC, but it has slight similarity for CB1 receptors, roughly equal to that of CBD. Like CBD, it has painkilling and anti-inflammatory properties, indicating that there is scope for developing cannabinoid drugs that do not have the psychoactive properties of THC. The main uses for CBG are usually pain, higher levels of anxiety, depression, mood balance, and more!

CBN: CBN stands for cannabinol. CBN can often be found in aged cannabis, particularly cannabis that has been exposed to a lot of oxygen. Research is still in its preliminary phases; however, studies have found CBN to be highly effective in helping people get better quality sleep. Although it acts a lot like CBD, its origin is different, as it is the product of oxidization. Manufacturers expose THC to heat and light, which
breaks it down, leaving behind CBN. Because of this, no strains of cannabis contain high levels of CBN themselves. CBN comes from the breakdown of the psychoactive cannabinoid THC, while it can be mildly psychoactive itself, it does not produce a high like THC at all. CBN is created when THC-A oxidizes. CBN, though not as widely used for anti-inflammatory purposes as CBD or THC, may have similar abilities
to treat a variety of inflammatory ailments. A 2009 study on cannabinoids as novel anti-inflammatory drugs, for example, identified CBN as a possible treatment for inflammatory disorders such as allergic asthma. Research has also revealed that CBN can treat glaucoma by reducing inflammation that causes intraocular pressure. CBN can be used effectively as a sleep aid or sedative. In addition to its effectiveness as a sleep aid, CBN has recently been identified as a potential painkiller. As previously mentioned, CBN has different mechanisms of action than CBD and THC. Though one of the main uses of CBN would be sleep! This cannabinoid is usually used in products for sleep and are especially powerful when paired with CBD.

Delta-8 & Delta-9: Delta-8 and Delta-9 are fairly new compounds in the CBD world. From a biological standpoint, Delta-8 and Delta-9 differ mostly due to the location of a double bind in their molecular chain. Delta-8 is a minor cannabinoid in hemp and cannabis plants, meaning it is found less abundantly than major cannabinoids like CBD or Delta-9. Though research containing cannabinoids in general is still fairly new but, we do know some major factors that affect how these two variants of THC can impact users. Structure-wise, Delta-8 shares more in common with Delta-9 than it does with CBD. Although CBD is the second most abundant cannabinoid in the cannabis plant, it doesn’t have the same effect on the brain’s CB1 and CB2 as its THC equivalents. Delta-8 is a significant cannabinoid, mainly thanks to its ability to serve as a more relaxed and efficient alternative for Delta-9. Though it is a major cannabinoid that can be found in abundance in cannabis, extraction is usually fairly cheap and simple as a result. It tends to be derived from marijuana plants specifically. While there is no denying that Delta-9 is a potent compound, being about twice as strong, not to mention an effective and natural healer for those suffering from a multitude of conditions and medical issues, it also brings with it quite a few undesirable side effects. Paranoia and anxiety often top the list of unfavorable side effects linked with traditional marijuana, along with sleep issues and addiction with longer-term use. Delta-8 doesn’t appear to have many of these harmful effects, at least not nearly to the same extent as Delta-9. This makes it a top choice for those seeking similar relaxational properties and euphoric effects to Delta-9, but with far less of the unpleasant mental side effects. Delta- 8 may very well help with sleep in some users. A consistent, regular routine with the right amount will play a major factor.

In the world of CBD and its many counterparts, the word “homeostasis” is thrown around a lot. What exactly does it mean to be in a state of homeostasis? How is CBD able to help you reach that point? In this article, we will go over the exact definition of this word and how CBD as a compound is linked to it.

Homeostasis, what is it?
It means “the tendency toward a relatively stable equilibrium between interdependent elements, especially as maintained by physiological processes.” Or in a simpler definition “A state of balance among all the body systems needed for the body to survive and function correctly.” This means your entire being, body and mind, are where they need to be to properly function on a day-to-day basis, and in this state, you are more likely to be in an overall better state of health as well.

How is CBD and the other cannabinoids linked to this?
The human body has something called an endocannabinoid system (ECS), this system in the brain is in charge for so many of our day-to-day functions. Some of these functions including sleep, mood, appetite, memory, etc. Did you know that all humans have this endocannabinoid system in them even if they don’t use any form of cannabis? All humans and animals are born with this system and start our lives in a state of homeostasis, but over time our brains can be thrown out of this state. This is where a lot of physical and mental conflicts come into play. Your body is able to create its own cannabinoids, similar to those found in cannabis, which is part of how CBD can help put our brains back into this homeostasis. The endocannabinoids can bind to either receptor, the effects that result depend on where the receptor is located and which endocannabinoid it binds to. While not all CBD products can fully accomplish this, a lot of them can help you get closer to that point. Each item has a different use, some better for pain, others better for sleep, and products even used for stress/anxiety. The one that is
most helpful for homeostasis would be CBD oil/tincture, this is due to it going through your bloodstream and distributing cannabinoids throughout the whole body.

How is the endocannabinoid system linked to my health?
This system works though two systems in your body called the CB1 and CB2 systems. The CB1 receptors are located in the brain and throughout the body, while CB2 receptors are found mostly in the immune and gastrointestinal system; although CB2 receptors are also found in the brain, they are not expressed quite as densely as CB1 receptors. CB1 receptors are responsible for motor activity, memory,
coordination, pain receptors, appetite, short term memory, and immunity. While the CB2 receptors are responsible for the gut, kidneys, pancreas, skeletal muscle, bone, eyes, reproductive system, immune system, respiratory tract, skin, central nervous system, cardiovascular system, and liver.

Conclusion
CBD is usually a good go-to when improving your overall health, being able to improve so many parts of the body. It can be used for topical pains and inflammation, all the way to mood balance and depression. At AHS, we have trained staff who are able to help you find a product for your exact needs. We have a nurse on staff and owner who are able to provide personal consolations to help you find you healthy solution today.

CBD has many different forms, there are gummies, tinctures, capsules, patches, creams, and more. One of the more popular forms of consumption is usually the tincture, which is a form of CBD oil. CBD tinctures are generally made from high CBD strains of hemp, with 60 to 70 percent alcohol, and are primarily used to help relieve anxiety or ease pain. Tinctures are convenient, have a long shelf life, and are absorbed easily when taken under the tongue. There are three different formulas that are used, full spectrum, broad spectrum, and isolate. Each formula has their own benefits to them, but what may these be? What makes each of them so unique? Let’s take a look at CBD and each compound and see what they are.

CBD, also known as Cannabidiol, is a chemical compound found in the cannabis or hemp plant. There’s also the more well-known chemical THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) in the same plant which causes a psychoactive effect. Unlike THC, CBD does not cause these effects, but instead reduces overall anxiety, stress, and has anti-inflammatory properties. All of these put together can help put the body into a
better state of being.

Now, let’s start with the Isolate. An isolate is the purest form of CBD that has the added benefit of terpenes in it. Terpenes are naturally occurring chemical compounds found in plants and some animals. They’re responsible for the aromas, flavors, and even colors associated with various types of plant life. In terms of cannabis, terpenes are what make certain strains smell or taste different from others. Generally, the CBD isolate comes in a white powdery form that contains 99% pure CBD. A traditional extraction process removes all the active compounds from the cannabis plant. Then, a refining process that stripes away all other phytocannabinoids, including THC, and any other plant matter. What remains is the CBD chemical compounds in its purest form. The isolate has 0% THC and has a quick absorption rate. This compound works well for 7/10 pain, anxiety, insomnia, etc.

Next, let’s discuss the Full Spectrum. A full spectrum compound has some unique qualities. It has increased effectiveness due to the different cannabinoids working synergistically. For AHS, our full spectrum products contain the legal limits for THC, which is 0.3%. With this, you get the continued benefits of the product without the psychoactive effects. Usually, these products would be used for chronic pains leveling to 9/10 and severe issues within the body. Because of the benefits of the entire plant, full-spectrum CBD products are priced higher than their broad-spectrum counterparts or CBD isolate. It’s also more challenging for manufacturers to maintain consistent ratios when using a full-
spectrum extract — again raising the overall cost of these oils. Unfortunately, if you take a drug test while taking a full spectrum product, it will show up on that test, so be warned.

And finally, the Broad Spectrum. A broad spectrum product is usually the way to go. It combines both isolate and a full spectrum to amplify the benefits, all without any form of THC. It has a quick absorption rate and is a good choice for someone who gets drug tested and doesn’t want anything to show up. It is also great for acute/chronic pains, anxiety, and insomnia that are about an 8/10. What’s even better about this compound is that you’re getting additional benefits from the plant, such as cannabinoids and terpenes. Also, many users believe that full- and broad-spectrum CBD products have a greater effect than CBD isolates. This is due to the “entourage effect,” which is said to allow other plant compounds to work together and potentially alter or enhance the medicinal effects of the CBD. In other words, having the presence of multiple compounds (not just CBD) actually bolsters the therapeutic value.

At the end of the day, each one of these compounds have amazing effects that can help with different conditions. Whatever you may need, one of these compounds may be a good fit for you! Always consult a health care professional before trying CBD. We provide free consultations and have a nurse on staff if you have any questions about your care or CBD.

Insect bites are an absolute pain, especially when it feels like you can escape the itching and scratching.
But what if there was a potential solution that was medicinal creams or medication? Well, we may have
the solution for you! In this blog post, we will discuss bug bites, how they can affect someone, and what
CBD can do to help relieve the pain/discomfort.

So, how do bug bites affect the human body? When someone is stung or bitten by an insect, there is
generally high levels of pain and/or discomfort. Depending on the type of bug, some bites can lead to
infections, allergic reactions, illnesses, etc.. In the case you experience any serious symptoms, go to a
local doctor immediately to get treated. When a bug bites or stings you, their saliva, or the venom that
they inject causes an immune system response. For most people, the direct response is redness and
swelling, followed by itching and soreness. People who are sensitive or allergic to an insect’s venom may
go into anaphylactic shock, a life-threatening condition. Luckily, in most cases, A bite or a sting will cause fairly minor symptoms. There are a number of insects and spiders that bite or sting. This includes ticks, mites, bedbugs, fleas, lice, horse flies, mosquitos, black flies, bees, yellow jackets, hornets, fire ants, and wasps. For most people, being stung or bitten by a bug is a minor inconvenience that results in redness, inflammation, pain, and itchiness. But even though these symptoms go away after a few days or a week, it can be hard to not let a bug bite drive you crazy.

CBD can help you stop focusing on the bite or sting by alleviating some of the more bothersome symptoms. CBD works well due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Scientists have determined that CBD may help to reduce both pain and inflammation alike.

CBD is extracted from the cannabis-based hemp plant and is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid. This
cannabinoid is said to interact with various cannabinoid receptors present in our Endocannabinoid
System. Our ECS helps in maintaining homeostasis in our body and CBD by interacting with these ECS
receptors helps in treating health issues related to pain, mood, appetite, immune system, brain, and
more. CBD or Cannabidiol is an amazing and one of the most popular natural treatments which are
gaining attention these days. This is because this cannabinoid has a variety of medicinal and healing
properties in treating a variety of health issues. In this case, the anti-inflammatory properties are
unbelievably valuable for your skin.

At A Healthy Solution Wellness Boutique, we recommend our Miller Healer 1000mg Salve stick for these
nasty bug bites. It can be easily applied to the skin and can help reduce symptoms as soon as half an
hour after it is applied! CBD is an anti-inflammatory so after you apply the salve to the area, it should
bring down any redness or swelling you may be having. It can also stop any itchiness you may be
experiencing.

This topical CBD salve, when applied to the affected area, is easily absorbed, and helps in relieving the
pain and inflammation within a few minutes. This topical skin balm has its effective utility for burns or
wounds and is perfect for a first-aid outfit. It also is safe to use for pregnant women, individuals, and
pets. Always consult your primary care physician before starting a new treatment. Our team of
specialists are always available to provide you with education and assist you with any questions
regarding CBD and any other cannabinoids you may be curious about.

We all get aches and pains; some people get it more often than others. But what do you do when that pain lasts longer than expected? Usually we take prescription medication, which can be what you need sometimes. But what if you are tired of the prescriptions or have been on them for what feels like forever? Well today, we are going to take a look at CBG and how it can help alleviate pain in your body. But before going into that, let us take a quick dive into what CBG is exactly.

Cannabigerol, or CBG, is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid typically most abundant in low-THC and high- CBD cannabis strains, including hemp. CBG has been called ‘inactive’ when compared to THC, but it has slight similarity for CB1 receptors, approximately equal to that of CBD. Like CBD, it has painkilling and anti-inflammatory properties, indicating that there is scope for developing cannabinoid drugs that do not have the psychoactive properties of THC. Strains high in CBG will be beneficial treating conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis, and Crohn’s disease. For Multiple Sclerosis, a 2014 study in mice said that CBG “has been shown to alleviate symptoms in a viral model of multiple sclerosis.” Remarkably, one of the few medical drugs that contains cannabinoids was approved as a treatment for neuropathic pain in patients with multiple sclerosis.

Now that we have a better idea of CBG, let’s examine how it can help with reducing pain. Inflammation is regularly a contributor or a symptom, and where there’s inflammation, there’s pain and other health problems. The most fascinating aspect of CBG is that it is a powerful anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and neuroprotectant. Amazingly, according to research, CBG has shown the ability to regulate the release of GABA –– a neurotransmitter that helps calm pain, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and panic disorders. In fact, CBG regulates GABA far greater than THC and CBD do, and scientists suggest that it may be used as a muscle relaxant for people with spasms. Though, as well as CBG can work, it, like many other cannabinoids, work best when paired with CBD. Like CBD, CBG is completely non-psychoactive. So, it will not get you “high,” but will rather offer your body a much more calming effect.

There is no denying that high-quality CBG products, especially when combined with quality CBD, may be the answer you’re seeking.
