CBD for Herniated Disk

As we go about our lives, our body begins to hurt and does not function quite like it used to. In many cases, these conditions can become chronic and affect everyday lives. One of these conditions can be having a herniated disk.

What is a Herniated Disk?
A herniated disk is a condition which is caused by rupture of the disc between the bones of the spine and the soft inner section of the disc (nucleus) protrudes outside through the hard outer ring (annulus). The nerve becomes inflamed and in pain as a result of the nerve being compressed. This can occur when the outer ring of the disc becomes weak or worn and results in the inner portion to herniate. Some of the symptoms patients can experience are the following: Pain in the back, arm, leg, and foot, Recurrent back muscle spasm, Numbness or tingling along thigh, Muscle weakness, Burning in the shoulders, neck or arm.

How common is this condition?
While not overly common, this condition can naturally occur from natural wear and tear over time. On very rare occasions, it can be caused by physical trauma from a blow to the back or falling.

On average, it can be caused from a few different things: Aging that can cause the spinal cord to lose their water content, making them less flexible and more prone to a tear or rupture with strain or twist, lifting heavy objects also makes you prone to wear and tear.

Additional risk factors include: Having excess weight that puts stress on lower back disks, physically tasking jobs that put extra strain on your back, and having a family history of herniated disks can also increase your chances of having this condition.

What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a type of cannabinoid, a chemical found naturally in cannabis (marijuana and hemp) plants. Early research is promising regarding the ability of CBD oil to help relieve anxiety. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), another type of cannabinoid, CBD doesn’t cause any feelings of intoxication or the “high” you may associate with cannabis. CBD is also known for its ability to relieve stress and anxiety in the brain. Let’s talk about the human body and its many different receptors. CBD is thought to interact with CB1 and CB2 receptors. These receptors are mostly found in the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system, respectively. These receptors are part of our body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), this system in the brain is responsible for so many of our day-to-day functions. A few of these functions include mood, sleep, appetite, memory, etc. There is still a lot that is being discovered about this system in our bodies. What has been discovered is amazing. We all have this ECS in our systems, even if you haven’t had any form of cannabis in your system. When we are born, this system in our brains is in a form of homeostasis, though over time it can become unbalanced. That’s where CBD can come in to help. The endocannabinoids can bind to either receptor, the effects that result depend on where the receptor is located and which endocannabinoid it binds to. The CB1 receptors are located in the brain and throughout the body, while CB2 receptors are found mostly in the immune and gastrointestinal system; although CB2 receptors are also found in the brain, they are not expressed quite as densely as CB1 receptors. We have another blog that goes deeper into this topic.

With CBD’s ability to help reduce pain and inflammation topically in the muscles, it’s usually seen as a really helpful alternative to regular pharmaceutical medications. The most recommended way to use CBD for aches and pains would be in a topical or cream form. When using a topical, it’s recommended to use a formula with CBD and CBG together or with Full Spectrum CBD/CBG. This is because CBG can be used for pain symptoms and to relax the body. When two cannabinoids are used together in a product, they help make each other more effective. Full Spectrum means that the formula has the legal limits of THC (0.3%), it’s not enough to cause any form of a psychoactive but does help with higher levels of pain and relaxing the body.

Regardless of how you would like to go about your treatment plan, we always recommend speaking to a health care specialist if you feel you have any serious/persistent symptoms. Here at AHS, we also have a nurse on staff who can help answer any additional questions. Our team
is trained in CBD and here to help make sure you get the best treatment we can provide.

A lot of people have allergies, about 50 million Americans do! Though, these allergies can impede our day to day lives and become very disruptive, causing symptoms like sneezing, congestion, rash, and swelling. These symptoms can disrupt your daily life, resulting in discomfort, sleep loss, and lower productivity at work. If you experience any or all of these symptoms, it is essential to seek relief. In this article, we will discuss some allergy types, and what CBD can do to help your symptoms.

What Are Allergies?

By definition, allergies are described as “exaggerated or pathological immunological reaction (as by sneezing, difficult breathing, itching, or skin rashes) to substances, situations, or physical states that are without comparable effect on the average individual”

It’s an overreaction in the immune system to certain foreign substances, some of these stimulants being more common than others. According to research that has been done, allergies are the sixth leading cause of chronic illness. Common Allergies include; specific foods (peanuts and pineapples being examples), pets (this usually includes their fur), pollen/plants, mold, dust mites, specific medications, latex, insects, perfumes/chemical smells.

What is CBD and the Endocannabinoid system?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a type of cannabinoid, a chemical found naturally in cannabis (marijuana and hemp) plants. Early research is promising regarding the ability of CBD oil to help relieve anxiety. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), another type of cannabinoid, CBD doesn’t cause any feelings of intoxication or the “high” you may associate with cannabis. CBD is also known for its ability to relieve stress and anxiety in the brain.

CBD is thought to interact with CB1 and CB2 receptors in the human body. These receptors are most commonly found in the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system. These receptors are part of our body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is responsible for so many of our daily functions. Many of these functions include mood, sleep, appetite, memory, etc. To this day, there is still a lot of information that is being discovered about this system in our bodies. All living beings have this ECS in our body, even if you haven’t had any form of cannabis in your system. When we are born, this system in our brains is a form of homeostasis, however, it can become unbalanced as we age and go through life. That’s where CBD can be utilized to help. Cannabinoids can help regulate the immune system by reducing inflammation in the body. When the body’s cannabinoid system is not functioning properly, inflammation and immune-related disorders, such as allergies, can occur. CBD helps your body through allergies by reducing the inflammation in your body. CBD comes in topical and ingestible forms. Depending on your specific allergy type, and how much it affects you, CBD can be a useful and healthier alternative for your body. Though, we always recommend speaking with a health care professional if your symptoms are severe or seem to worsen.

Anxiety is a condition that most people, if not everyone, have experienced at least once in their lives. We can have anxiety over almost anything, like an important decision that needs to be made at work, or a school project that needs to be done ASAP. Maybe you even get anxiety over being around other people. Regardless, anxiety can affect so many different people, especially in the modern age. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of anxiety and depressive disorders grew. Depressive symptoms grew from a base of about 193 million people worldwide to 246 million, which is about 28%. Anxiety disorders grew from about 298 million people affected to 374 million, which is about a 25% increase. CBD can help greatly improve your symptoms of anxiety/anxiety related conditions, though there are still cases that require additional help. We recommend speaking to your doctor or a licensed professional if you are experiencing conditions such as PTSD, OCD, Depression, or other conditions that have are having extreme effects on your day-to-day life.

How does that exactly work?

Well, let’s start by talking about the human body and its many different receptors.

The CB1 receptors are located in the brain and throughout the body, while CB2 receptors are found mostly in the immune and gastrointestinal system; although CB2 receptors are also found in the brain, they are not expressed quite as densely as CB1

receptors. We have another blog that goes deeper into this topic.

What type of CBD can help with my anxiety?

At AHS, we have many different products that help with differing levels of anxiety. For example, we have our personal brand of gummies that have shown amazing results with clients. One of the most popular choices is our AHS Clarity gummies. What makes this product so special is the unique CBG/CBC compound. These ingredients together help with higher anxiety, mood, focus, mental clarity, and even pain. This product has 20mg CBC, 30mg CBG, 25mg Ashwagandha, and 5mg Full Spectrum CBD. All of these ingredients together give your body the relaxation it needs to come down from high anxiety. This has be shown to help alleviate these symptoms within half an hour or so. This form of intake goes through your digestive system, which the CBD (also having anti-inflammatory properties) can also help with any stomach aches or pains you may be having.

Another intake option would be a tincture/CBD oil that works throughout your entire body and more with your brain’s receptors. While gummies are good for anxiety you’re having at the moment, a tincture helps with overall anxiety and bodily care. You take the oil by leaving it under the tongue for about thirty seconds to a minute, allowing the CBD to enter into your blood stream faster. The CBD oil works best when taken in the morning and before bed so it can stay in your system for a full 24 hour period. The tincture can help with overall health by putting your brain in homeostasis as mentioned before. It’s like putting part of your body in an optimal setting.

Though, if you’re having other medical conditions, always speak to your doctor before trying new treatments. For generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) says that CBD has been shown to reduce stress in animals such as rats. Study subjects were observed as having lower behavioral signs of anxiety. Their physiological symptoms of anxiety, such as increased heart rate, also improved. CBD may also benefit people with other forms of anxiety, such as social anxiety disorder (SAD) and post- traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It may help treat anxiety-induced insomnia as well. In 2011, a study researched CBD’s effects on people with SAD. Participants were given an oral dose of 400 milligrams (mg) of CBD or a placebo. Those who received CBD experienced overall reduced anxiety levels.

If you take any medications or have any questions on how you should take CBD, we have many specialists and a nurse on staff at AHS who can help answer any questions you may have.

By now, you may be familiar with CBD, and potentially CBG as well. Both compounds hold many medicinal properties to them, two big ones being lowering inflammation and lowering anxiety/stress symptoms. Though when paired together, they are able to do even more! In this blog, we will be discussing these two compounds and how they work well together. Both have unique properties that can help you with your care. At AHS, we are able to answer any additional questions you may have.

What are they?

CBD (cannabidiol) and CBG (cannabigerol) are cannabinoids, naturally occurring compounds found in cannabis plants. You may already know that both CBD and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) are the two most popular cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. For now, let’s continue seeing CBG in more detail, since that one is less known. Cannabigerol, or CBG, is one of more than 100 cannabinoids discovered in
hemp and cannabis plants. Young hemp plants create cannabigerolic acid (CBGA). As the plant develops, CBGA breaks down into cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) and tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA). These two compounds are then converted into CBD and THC. Any leftover CBGA is converted into CBG. It is still a fairly new compound in the world of cannabinoid research. From what has been shown in these studies, this compound has antibacterial, antidepressant, and anticancer properties. Meaning it can help with physical and mental wellness. CBG is also able to provide many of the medicinal properties as THC/ tetrahydrocannabinol, but without the psychoactive effect! CBG works by binding to both receptors (CB1 and CB2 receptors) of the endocannabinoid system, which influence inflammation, pain, and even heat sensitivity. Studies have also shown CBG's ability to fight nausea, increase appetite, regulate sleep, and even combat cancer-causing cells! CBG works really well as a pain reliever! This is because it reduces the pain and inflammation signals being sent to your brain. It’s able to do this by reducing the intensity of hormone-like lipids which are in charge of the inflammatory response and pain.

Why use them together?

Well, even though the compounds are similar, when paired together they can do a lot for your health. When CBD and CBG are paired together, they act synergistically to create a stronger effect compared to when they’re used alone. So they bring each other a lot more balance when they work together. It generates something called the entourage effect; this usually occurs when consuming a full spectrum hemp product. You can indicate which product has this combo when you see it has a “1:1” ratio. This means for every 1mg of CBD, you get 1mg of CBG as well. When put together, CBD and CBG can help with the following: Increase in focus, lowering anxiety and stress, boosting your mood, relieving general discomfort (physically and mentally), supporting appetite, helping with sleep, aiding stomach aches, helping with general pain/inflammation, and more! CBG helps with pain by being a GABA reuptake inhibitor. CBG’s ability to behave as a GABA reuptake inhibitor means that it can assist to maintain the levels of GABA in the brain and spinal cord. This is comparable to how selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) perform in their ability to maintain serotonin in the brain. Because CBG can help to inhibit the reuptake of GABA, a neurotransmitter that has been linked to pain reduction, it is possible for patients to use this cannabinoid in their pursuit of reduced pain.

AHS recommendations

-Kurativ CBD/CBG Tincture – 3300mg. This product has a 10:1 ratio of CBD:CBG and is a full spectrum product. This means this product has the legal limits of THC, 0.3%. This product also contains a bit of CBN, CBC, and CBDVA.

“Blending CBD & CBG helps create overall balance and regulates the body. When combined, these cannabinoids complement each other, and the effects are amplified. This Kurativ oil contains 1mg of CBG for every 10mg of CBD, plus an array of secondary cannabinoids.”

-Kurativ CBD/CBG Gummies – 1000mg. This product contains a 4:1 CBD:CBG ratio, with 0% THC. You can take this product any time of day when you’re feeling symptoms of stress, anxiety, or pain and can help you within 30-45 minutes, and stays in your system for 4-6 hours. We have two kinds: Apple/Peach Rings that are 50mg per piece, and Watermelon that is 25mg per piece.

“Kurativ CBD/CBG Gummies are a fun and delicious way to experience the power of cbd and cbg. Great for on-the-go relief. Available in bears, apple rings, peach rings, and our all-time favorite watermelon wedges. Try them all!”

What is colitis?

Colitis is inflammation in your colon, which is the main part of your large intestine. Your colon is the last leg of the journey your food takes through your digestive system. Inflammation in your colon can affect the way this journey ends, causing pain, diarrhea and sometimes blood in your poop. Inflammation is your body’s response to infection or injury. It causes swelling and tenderness in your tissues. This discomfort may be mild and reoccurring over a long period of time, or severe and appearing suddenly. Let’s look in what CBD/CBG is and how it helps with Colitis.

What is CBD and CBG?

Cannabidiol (CBD) and Cannabigerol (CBG) both have their own unique medical benefits, and when used together, you can get the best of both worlds as well as an interesting entourage effect. CBD and CBG are non-psychoactive compounds, meaning they will not produce the “high” feeling associated with THC. Just like CBD, the potential benefits of CBG are vast due to its interaction with the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS refers to receptors found throughout the body, and these CB1/CB2 receptors help regulate physiological processes such as pain, mood, sleep, digestion, and more. Cannabinoids like CBD, THC, and CBG bind to these receptors, interacting with these different areas of human health and bring homeostasis (balance) to the body.

Studies have found that CBG can potentially help with pain, depression, insomnia, anxiety, colon cancer, IBS, Crohn’s, inflammation, and much more. Some of the benefits of CBG overlap with CBD but when combined they produce an entourage effect. The entourage effect happens when CBD is ingested with other compounds from the cannabis plant like CBG, rather than in isolation. The theory is that by using the whole hemp plant rather than a singular aspect, there is a boost in the health benefits and overall therapeutic effect of cannabinoids.

How can CBD/CBG help with Colitis?

Cannabinoids, like CBD, express their therapeutic effects in the body through receptors in the ECS. The two primary endocannabinoid receptors are the CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB1 receptors are primarily distributed on neural tissue and the central nervous system. CB2 receptors mediate the functions concerning the immune system. A study in 2001 mentioned that CB1 receptors are said to play a role in controlling gastrointestinal motility and gastric intestinal secretion. This statement is supported by at least two studies on mice, which demonstrated that CB1 and CB2 receptors are crucial in modulating colonic inflammation.

Although both CB1 and CB2 receptors are considered mediators of inflammation in the ECS, the CB2 receptor seems to be the primary regulator of inflammation and immune functions. When CB2 receptors are activated, they trigger a response which fights inflammation in the body. This anti-inflammatory reaction is said to help treat chronic inflammatory diseases, one of which is colitis. In addition to relieving intestinal inflammation, CBG may also help relieve any pain or discomfort through its analgesic properties. This might make it a great option for stomach aches as well.

Best way to take CBD/CBG for Colitis?

Now that we have learned that CBD/CBG may help reduce inflammation and pain caused by Colitis, we can now focus on the best way to consume it. CBG is best consumed orally by eating a gummy or using CBD Oil in a capsule, smoothie, or drink. This is due to CBG connecting to your CB2 receptors which oversee the motility, pain, and inflammatory response within your intestines. Consuming CBG orally allows it to be processed via the digestive system which is where the relief is needed most.

In the world of CBD and its many counterparts, the word “homeostasis” is thrown around a lot. What exactly does it mean to be in a state of homeostasis? How is CBD able to help you reach that point? In this article, we will go over the exact definition of this word and how CBD as a compound is linked to it.

Homeostasis, what is it?
It means “the tendency toward a relatively stable equilibrium between interdependent elements, especially as maintained by physiological processes.” Or in a simpler definition “A state of balance among all the body systems needed for the body to survive and function correctly.” This means your entire being, body and mind, are where they need to be to properly function on a day-to-day basis, and in this state, you are more likely to be in an overall better state of health as well.

How is CBD and the other cannabinoids linked to this?
The human body has something called an endocannabinoid system (ECS), this system in the brain is in charge for so many of our day-to-day functions. Some of these functions including sleep, mood, appetite, memory, etc. Did you know that all humans have this endocannabinoid system in them even if they don’t use any form of cannabis? All humans and animals are born with this system and start our lives in a state of homeostasis, but over time our brains can be thrown out of this state. This is where a lot of physical and mental conflicts come into play. Your body is able to create its own cannabinoids, similar to those found in cannabis, which is part of how CBD can help put our brains back into this homeostasis. The endocannabinoids can bind to either receptor, the effects that result depend on where the receptor is located and which endocannabinoid it binds to. While not all CBD products can fully accomplish this, a lot of them can help you get closer to that point. Each item has a different use, some better for pain, others better for sleep, and products even used for stress/anxiety. The one that is
most helpful for homeostasis would be CBD oil/tincture, this is due to it going through your bloodstream and distributing cannabinoids throughout the whole body.

How is the endocannabinoid system linked to my health?
This system works though two systems in your body called the CB1 and CB2 systems. The CB1 receptors are located in the brain and throughout the body, while CB2 receptors are found mostly in the immune and gastrointestinal system; although CB2 receptors are also found in the brain, they are not expressed quite as densely as CB1 receptors. CB1 receptors are responsible for motor activity, memory,
coordination, pain receptors, appetite, short term memory, and immunity. While the CB2 receptors are responsible for the gut, kidneys, pancreas, skeletal muscle, bone, eyes, reproductive system, immune system, respiratory tract, skin, central nervous system, cardiovascular system, and liver.

Conclusion
CBD is usually a good go-to when improving your overall health, being able to improve so many parts of the body. It can be used for topical pains and inflammation, all the way to mood balance and depression. At AHS, we have trained staff who are able to help you find a product for your exact needs. We have a nurse on staff and owner who are able to provide personal consolations to help you find you healthy solution today.

Aches and pains happen to us all of the time. Sometimes it can be mild and other times it can feel unbearable. Either way, you shouldn’t have to be content with pain if you don’t have to. As our cream flyer says, “Life shouldn’t be a pain.” There are many ways to help relieve these aches as well, most people using pain killers or some type of medical cream. What if you want to try something more natural that isn’t an over the counter or prescribed medication? At AHS, we have potential solutions for you that can help with all of your aches and pains! Today we will be focusing on topical pains and what we can do to help you.

Let’s start with what CBD is. CBD, or Cannabidiol, is one of the many active compounds found in the cannabis plant. Luckily, CBD is non-psychoactive and has many of the same medical benefits as Tetrahydrocannabinol (aka THC), another active and more well-known compound thanks to its psychoactive properties. This compound being the one that gets you “high.” CBD allows you to take advantage of the healing benefits without leaving you with the inebriated feeling that often goes hand in hand with THC. There has also been research that has shown that CBD is a very powerful painkiller and has anti-inflammatory properties that help make internal and external pain much more
manageable. What’s also nice about this compound is that it is not addictive and very safe for you to take. Even if you take too much, at worst you will have a headache or diarrhea. Though when taking CBD for topical pain, those symptoms do not usually occur.

So why should I use CBD cream? What makes it so special is that with its anti-inflammatory properties, it can reduce the symptoms you may be experiencing on your skin. It can go through about four layers of skin to improve deeper pain you may be experiencing. CBD cream evades the CB1 and CB2 receptors and heads straight for a neurotransmitter middleman that blocks signals for pain and itch by working through agents called anandamide and 2-AG. Sidestepping the CB1 and CB2 receptors means that CBD can mute pain without the high sensation delivered by THC. CBD can significantly reduce intense pain, sharp pain, itchy sensations, and cold. Other research also suggests that topical CBD may be useful for treating joint and muscle pain associated with other conditions, such as migraines. Topical CBD may also benefit certain skin disorders. CBD cream has been shown to help with cases such as eczema and arthritis. Depending on what level of pain you may be having, we will surly have something that can help with your needs.

At AHS, we have two different creams that can help you with different levels of pain. We use a 1-10 scale to represent pain, for example, 1 would be the lightest amount of pain while 10 would be considered some of the worst pain you can experience. We have two different creams to accommodate both levels of pain. We have our 1500mg cream that would be good for pain that is a 5 or lower, and our 2500mg cream that is for 6 and higher levels of pain. Luckily, it’s very easy to apply to the skin as well! Our creams come with little spatulas that can help you scoop up a tiny bit of cream, a little bit can go a long way! You just apply a little bit to your affected area, and it will help elevate the pain within half an hour to an hour, depending on the person. Always be careful where you put the cream though, never put it near your eyes or near more sensitive areas of your body (such as genitalia.) Our 2500mg cream does contain menthol in it, so be warned if you either have an allergy or are sensitive to this ingredient. At AHS, we have many specialists and a nurse on staff who can answer any additional questions about CBD or how to take it if you are on any medications.

Anxiety, it’s something that a good percentage of us deal with at least a few times in our lives. We can have anxiety over almost anything, like an important decision that needs to be made at work, or a school project that needs to be done ASAP. Maybe you even get anxiety over being around other people. Either way, anxiety can affect so many different people, especially as of 2020/2021. According to a recent study, about 3.6 percent, or 264 million people around the world, have anxiety disorders. Within these numbers, there are different types of anxiety disorders, some cases more severe than others. While CBD can help with this condition, there is no proper “cure” for anxiety. Talk to your doctor or a licensed professional if you are experiencing conditions such as PTSD, OCD, Depression, or other conditions that have are having extreme effects on your day-to-day life.

For now, let’s dive into what CBD exactly is and what is the best way to take it to help you. But how does that exactly work? Well, let’s start by talking about the human body and its many different receptors. There is still a lot that is being discovered about this system in our bodies,
what has been found out is amazing.

With this, how can CBD help with different levels of anxiety? At AHS, we have many different products that help with differing levels of anxiety. For example, our SoCal gummies (peach rings, neon rings, and sour bears) are an ingestible CBD that is good for on-the-go anxiety or stress. If you feel any precursors to an anxiety attack or know something that causes you stress is coming up, you can take a gummy and
it may help alleviate these symptoms within half an hour or so. This form of intake goes through your digestive system, which the CBD (also having anti-inflammatory properties) can also help with any stomach aches or pains you may be having. Another intake option would be a tincture/CBD oil that works throughout your entire body and more with your brain’s receptors. While gummies are good for anxiety you’re having in the moment, a tincture helps with overall anxiety and bodily care. You take the oil by leaving it under the tongue for about thirty seconds to a minute, allowing the CBD to enter into your blood stream faster. The CBD oil works best when taken in the morning and before bed so it can stay in your system longer. The tincture can help with overall health by putting your brain in homeostasis as mentioned before. It’s like putting part of your body at optimal settings, though if you’re having other medical conditions, always speak to your doctor before trying new treatments. In 2011, a study
researched CBD’s effects on people with SAD. Participants were given an oral dose of 400 milligrams (mg) of CBD or a placebo. Those who received CBD experienced overall reduced anxiety levels.

If you take any medications, or have any questions on how you should take CBD, we have many specialists and a nurse on staff at AHS who can help with whatever you may need.

School can be extremely stressful for most people, and it becomes hard to focus when you have all of those assignments and projects to do. Sometimes students drink too many energy drinks or go on medications to get through their normal day, which can get very unhealthy if done for a long period of time. The stress school causes can also affect students negatively, such as developing social or behavioral problems, poor performance and learning, neglecting themselves and their personal care, and hurt their overall self-esteem. This may not seem like much on the surface, but these behaviors can and will follow a young student into their adult lives and cause harm to their overall health. A person’s psychological health can follow into their physical health and cause illness in the body, so it’s always important for anyone to take care of themselves mentally and physically.

What if I told you there’s a more natural solution that is safer to take and more effective than medication and energy drinks? In this blog, we will discuss how CBD can help college students with their overall care and how it can help them in their studies.

Let’s start with talking about what CBD is. CBD, also known as Cannabidiol, is a chemical compound found in the cannabis or hemp plant. You may already know the compound THC, also known as Tetrahydrocannabinol, which comes from the same plant, except it causes a psychoactive effect. Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive, and brings many different healing properties. Those being the ability to reduce anxiety, pain, inflammation, stress, depression, and many other conditions. Some students use THC recreationally, either legally or illegally, to help with said conditions, but it isn’t always the best choice due to the psychoactive effect. CBD is a much better route to take for this journey, especially since it does not cause any form of psychoactive effects and keeps you clear headed. Which is extremely important if you want to be able to focus on school and do well. CBD is also able to help you stay more focused as well as reduce stress. Since CBD interacts with the brain’s receptors, it can reduce the probability of irregular changes in the brain’s dopamine levels, enhancing focus.

The best way of achieving this is through a CBD tincture, it works well throughout the entire body and connects to the brain’s CB1 and CB2 receptors. All humans are born with something called an endocannabinoid system (ECS). This system in the brain is responsible for so many of our day-to-day functions. Some of these functions including sleep, mood, appetite, memory, etc. Did you know that all humans have this endocannabinoid system in them even if they don’t use any form of cannabis? Everyone with this system is in a form of homeostasis when we are born. Over time, our brains can get out of this homeostasis and become unbalanced, that’s where CBD can come in to help rebalance
everything and put your mind and body into a healthier state. While not all CBD products can accomplish this, a lot of them can help you get closer to that point. Each item has a different use, some better for pain, others better for sleep.

Another way of taking CBD that may be easier for some is through taking a gummy. At AHS, we have different types of gummies for different conditions, such as anxiety, stress, and insomnia. These gummies are good for on-the-go anxiety and take effect in about half an hour or so after consumption. They can help when you feel an anxiety attack starting and will help alleviate most of your symptoms, and due to its anti-inflammatory properties, it can also help with potential stomach aches if they happen. We also carry gummies for insomnia that will help you fall asleep and stay asleep for the entire night. Our Sleep Well gummies have CBD and CBN in them, CBN being the cannabinoid that is made for sleep aid. These gummies also have elderberry and a tiny amount of melatonin to assist with keeping you asleep and staying well rested. It doesn’t always make the symptoms go away completely but can help reduce said symptoms to make it much more manageable.

There are many ways to additionally improve your overall health, such as getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, practicing self-care, having a healthy diet, and more. Though that can be difficult for someone to do with a busy schedule. So why not give CBD a try? If you take any medications or have any questions on how you should take CBD, we have many specialists and a nurse on staff at AHS who can help with whatever you may need.

We all have days where we need a little boost to help our days be better, and plenty of times where we feel like we need a change to our quality of life. Sometimes we have little aches and pains that need relief. Or we have anxiety that just keeps persisting and we want it to settle down. That’s where CBD can come in and help out! This chemical compound has many different medicinal properties that help the body in day-to-day care, especially those who have chronic conditions. Though, how can CBD help me if I don’t have a chronic condition? How does it improve my overall care in ways that regular medicine can’t? In this blog, we will talk about what CBD is and what it can do in those situations.

CBD, or Cannabidiol, is one of the many active compounds found in the cannabis plant. Tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as THC, is another active compound and the most well-known, thanks to its psychoactive properties, this compound being the one that gets you “high.” Luckily, CBD is nonpsychoactive and has many of the same medical benefits as THC. This allows you to take advantage of the therapeutic benefits without leaving you with the inebriated feeling that often goes hand in hand with THC. There has also been research that has shown that CBD is a very powerful painkiller and has anti-inflammatory properties that help make internal and external pain much more manageable. What’s also nice about this compound is that it is not addictive and very safe for you to take. Even if you take too much, at worst you will have a headache or diarrhea. When it comes to the medicinal properties of CBD, there are different ways to take it.

For example, at AHS, we have products that can be ingested (such as our gummies) that can help with internal inflammation and anxiety! Our SoCal Peach Rings are a good example of this. If you have a stomachache, are having high anxiety, or are having extreme stress, this gummy can help reduce the symptoms you are having in about half an hour or so (though it can work differently for every individual.) It doesn’t always make the symptoms go away completely but can help reduce said symptoms to make it much more manageable. In cases where you need something a little more generalized/stronger for overall use, we have our CBD tinctures. The tinctures are a CBD oil that is put under your tongue for about thirty seconds to a minute. This oil works well throughout the entire body and connects to the brain’s CB1 and CB2 receptors. All humans are born with something called an endocannabinoid system (ECS), this system in the brain is responsible for so many of our day-to-day functions. Some of these functions including sleep, mood appetite, memory, etc. While experts are still learning more and more about these functions every day, but what we do know is incredible. Did you know that all humans have this endocannabinoid system in them even if they don’t use any form of cannabis? Everyone is born with this system and is in a homeostasis when we are born. Over time, our brains can get out of this homeostasis and become unbalanced, that’s where CBD can come in to help rebalance everything and put you mind and body into a healthier state. We have another blog coming out soon that will go into further detail on this topic!

Our bodies being in that homeostasis is good regardless of condition and can help our bodies stay in an actively healthier state. While not all CBD products can accomplish this, a lot of them can help you get closer to that point. Each item has a different use, some better for pain, others better for sleep.

At out store, we have specialists that can answer any questions about any conditions you may be having, or if your having smaller conditions that you don’t want to take medications for. If you have further questions, we also have a nurse on staff to make sure that CBD is safe to take if you are taking other medications or just need a general recommendation for CBD.
