										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Many people experience depression at least once in their lives. There is also a chunk of the population that experiences chronic depression that can last a few months, to a few years. Everyone experiences it differently and at different intensities, but that doesn’t mean we should put up with it and not have a solution. Depression can occur from having low serotonin levels. Serotonin is a powerful neurotransmitter that is responsible for regulating mood, sleep cycle, appetite, and digestion, among many other things. Low serotonin levels are known to cause Anxiety/Depression, aggression, impulsive behavior, insomnia, irritability, low self-esteem, poor appetite, and poor memory. While everyone treats their depression differently, we will be talking about how CBD and mushrooms can help as a treatment.</p>
<p>Let’s start with CBD and how it helps with depression:</p>
<p>Cannabidiol (CBD) is a type of natural compound known as cannabinoid. Cannabinoids are found in the cannabis plant. This plant can sometimes be called hemp or marijuana, depending on their level of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), another cannabinoid. Low serotonin levels are likely connected to depression. CBD doesn’t necessarily boost serotonin levels, but it may affect how your brain’s chemical receptors respond to the serotonin that’s already in your system. CBD works by naturally balancing endocannabinoids, which results in a healthy response to what you are experiencing. This may be of benefit to both anxiety and depression. Some research suggests that in addition to impacting the endocannabinoid system, cannabidiol may influence receptors involved in the modulation of serotonin. It is very important that you consult your primary care provider before taking CBD if you are currently taking medications to prevent any contraindications with any medications you might be taking.</p>
<p>Now let’s talk about mushrooms and how they are used for depression:</p>
<p>There’s a decent stigma with mushrooms that cause people to think they’re only for “getting messed up,” but it can actually be used for much more. Let’s talk about psilocybin for this article. Research has shown that psilocybin can reduce activity in the default mode network of the brain, which can be described as the brain’s “inner narrator that’s telling you you’re not good enough, you need to work harder, and you’re not loved.” As a result, it tames the negative thoughts that often run in the background during depression. It has been shown that psilocybin microdosing to be associated with improvements in mood and mental health, which adds to the growing body of research that suggests positive benefits of microdosing specifically in the domains of mental health and cognition.</p>
<p>As stated in another article we wrote, “Psilocybin works by activating serotonin receptors, most often in the prefrontal cortex. This part of the brain affects mood, cognition, and perception. Hallucinogens also work in other regions of the brain that regulate arousal and panic responses. Psilocybin does not always cause active visual or auditory hallucinations. Instead, it distorts how some people who use this product perceive objects and people already in their environment. The quantity of the product a person consumes, their past experiences, and their expectations of how the experience will take shape can all impact the effects of psilocybin.”<br />
The main concern when doing any form of mushrooms is taking too much and causing a “trip.” Luckily, when mushrooms are microdosed (each type has to be dosed differently), they can be beneficial to mental health, and you can skip that stereotypical “trip” that most people talk about.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Vitamins and minerals are a very important way for us to stay healthy. Our immune systems and our overall bodies need these to help keep us functioning. Many of the foods and drinks we consume provide some form of vitamins in them that help keep us healthy as well as supplements. And there are even a few additional health products that help provide these for our bodies as well as food and supplements. In today’s blog, we will be discussing ingredients from Immune Essentials Immunity Support, and how they can improve your day to day life. These ingredients being: Elderberry, Echinacea, Zinc, Colloidal, Silver, and Vitamins C, D, E and B6.</p>
<p>First, we will start with Elderberry. Elderberries are one of the most commonly used medicinal plants in the world. The berries and flow of the elderberry plant are packed with antioxidants and vitamins that can help boost your immune system. They could help tame inflammation, lessen stress, and help protect your heart, too. Some experts recommend elderberry to help prevent and ease cold and flu symptoms. However, the raw berries, bark, and leaves of the plant are also known to be poisonous and cause stomach problems. So be careful if you ever decide to eat them.</p>
<p>Next, we have Echinacea. The Echinacea, or purple coneflower, is the name of a group of flower plants in the daisy family They’re native to North America where they grow in prairies and open, wooded areas. Both the plant’s upper parts and roots are used in tablets, tinctures, extracts and even teas. Echinacea plants contain an impressive variety of active compounds, such as caffeic acid, alkamides, phenolic acids, rosmarinic acid, polyacetylenes and many more. Several laboratory and animal studies suggest that echinacea contains active substances that boost immune function, relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and have hormonal, antiviral, and antioxidant effects. Because of this, specialized<br />
herbalists may recommend echinacea to treat urinary tract infections, vaginal yeast (candida) infections, ear infections (also known as otitis media), athlete&#8217;s foot, sinusitis, hay fever (also called allergic rhinitis), as well as slow-healing wounds. Initial studies in the lab suggest echinacea may help prevent colon tumors when combined with cichoric acid. One study even suggests that echinacea extract utilized an<br />
antiviral action on the development of recurrent cold sores triggered by the herpes simplex virus (HSVI) when taken prior to infection.</p>
<p>Following that, we have Zinc. Zinc supports a number of functions in the human body. As well as supporting the immune system, it enables the body to make proteins and DNA, contributes to wound healing, and plays a role in childhood growth and development. This mineral has also been shown to help with chronic disease, neurological symptoms, osteoporosis, age related degeneration, sexual health, and more. Zinc occurs naturally in many foods, such as beans, meat, and fish. It is also available as a dietary supplement. Generally, you can get enough Zinc in your system through your diet and maybe a supplement, otherwise your body doesn’t require as much as you may think. The recommended dietary intake for adult women is 8 milligrams (mg) per day and 11 mg for men, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). That amount can come from zinc-rich foods, such as oysters, red meat, crab, and lobster, or from supplements.</p>
<p>Then we have Colloidal Silver. The exact way colloidal silver works is not fully understood. But what we do know is that it’s known as a natural anti-inflammatory that works fast to reduce swelling, repair inflammation in the skin or body. Colloidal silver can benefit people as a nasal spray that kills staph aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections that could directly cause sinusitis and allergies. Colloidal silver can kill certain germs by destroying proteins, which is why it was previously used in wound dressings. But silver has no known function in the body and is not an essential mineral. Though in small doses with other compounds, can be safe to have in your system and can provide the antibacterial benefits needed. It is generally not recommended to take large amounts of silver unless you consult your doctor first due to it being dangerous to take it in large amounts.</p>
<p>Finally, we have Vitamins C, D, E, and B6. We will talk about each one individually, starting with vitamin C. Vitamin C is an important vitamin, meaning your body can’t produce it by itself. Yet, it has many roles and has been linked to impressive health benefits. It’s water-soluble and found in many fruits and vegetables, including oranges, strawberries, kiwi fruit, bell peppers, broccoli, kale, and spinach. The<br />
advised daily intake for vitamin C is 75 mg for women and 90 mg for men. While it’s commonly advised to get your vitamin C intake from foods, many people turn to supplements to meet their needs. Usually because they want to guarantee they get the amount they need in their system. Vitamin C is an incredible antioxidant that can strengthen your body’s natural defenses. Antioxidants are molecules that boost the immune system. They do so by protecting cells from harmful molecules called free radicals. When free radicals accumulate, they can promote a state known as oxidative stress, which has been linked to many chronic diseases. Studies show that consuming more vitamin C can increase your blood antioxidant levels by up to 30%. This helps the body’s natural defenses fight inflammation. Now vitamin D. Vitamin D is crucial for various reasons, including sustaining healthy bones and teeth. It may also protect against a range of diseases and conditions, such as type 1 diabetes. In spite of its name, vitamin D is not a vitamin, but a prohormone, or precursor of a hormone. Vitamins are nutrients that the body cannot create, and so a person must consume them in the diet. However, the body is able to produce vitamin D. Vitamin D plays a significant role in the regulation of calcium and maintenance of phosphorus levels in the blood. These factors are important for maintaining healthy bones. People need vitamin D to allow the intestines to absorb and reclaim calcium that the kidneys would otherwise excrete. In adults, vitamin D deficiency develops itself as osteomalacia, or softening of the bones. Osteomalacia results in poor bone density and muscular weakness. A vitamin D deficiency can also present as osteoporosis, for which over 53 million people in the United States either seek treatment or face an increased risk.</p>
<p>Let’s move on to vitamin E. This vitamin can be naturally found in some foods, added to others, and is available as a dietary supplement. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antioxidant that can help defend your body from oxidative stress. It may be useful in inhibiting or treating the symptoms of chronic inflammatory conditions such as diabetes and osteoarthritis. Still, more research is needed before any definitive<br />
conclusions can be made. Generally, people get enough vitamin E through diet, but supplements do exist. There may be some side effects to ingesting too much vitamin E over a longer period of time, and vitamin E can interact with certain medications if you’re not careful.</p>
<p>And finally for this section, vitamin B6! Vitamin B6, also known as pyridoxine, is a water-soluble vitamin that your body needs for several functions. It’s important to protein, fat and carbohydrate metabolism and the creation of red blood cells and neurotransmitters. Your body cannot produce vitamin B6, so you must obtain it from foods or supplements. Most people get enough vitamin B6 through their diet, but<br />
several people may be at risk for deficiency. Consuming adequate amounts of vitamin B6 is important for optimal health and may even prevent and treat chronic diseases. Low levels of vitamin B6 in older adults has been linked to signs of depression, but research is still looking into how B6 can be effective when helping mood disorders. Vitamin B6 may also be able to help with brain functionality as well.<br />
Along with mood disorders, B6 has been shown to help with conditions like Alzheimer’s and memory impairments by decreasing the homocysteine levels that have been associated with these conditions.</p>
<p>However, studies have not yet fully proven the effectiveness of B6 in improving brain health. It as also `been shown to add to the prevention of cancer and improves your overall eye health on top of that.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A lot of us are familiar with CBD and THC and how they work. But there are still a lot of people who aren’t sure what the exact differences between the two are. It is a common misconception that they both have the same properties and effects, which just isn’t true. Let’s discuss both chemical compounds and see the similarities and differences between the two.</p>
<p>CBD, or cannabidiol, is a non-psychoactive chemical that comes from the cannabis plant that holds many medicinal properties. It can be used either topically or internally, depending on what you’re using it for. There are different CBD products that work better for different conditions, such as stress/anxiety and topical pains. Then we have THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the chemical responsible for most of<br />
marijuana&#8217;s psychological effects. It acts much like the cannabinoid chemicals made naturally by the body, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). There are different forms of each, one of the most popular being gummies.</p>
<p>Although CBD and THC are both found in marijuana and interact with the endocannabinoid system, there are some significant differences a person should be aware of, despite both being cannabinoids, CBD and THC interact with slightly different receptors in a person’s brain. However, there is some variation in the uses of each substance. People typically use CBD to help with conditions such as: inflammatory bowl disease (IBS), seizures, depression, anxiety, inflammation (internal or external), migraines, and more. Then there is THC that can be used to potentially help the following: glaucoma, muscle spasms, low appetite, and insomnia. The general common ground that these two shares is that they are generally used for pain, anxiety, and nausea.</p>
<p>There are also side effects to each one, though generally THC has the more noticeable ones. CBD has been shown to have very few to no side effects overall. CBD is safe in large quantities, and the only potential side effects are likely the result of interactions with other medications a person may be taking, or a stomachache and diarrhea when taking too much. There are also the side effects of THC that most people are aware of: red eyes, slower response times, the general feeling of being high, issues with coordination, increased heart rate, etc. There are people who enjoy the feeling of being high, that being more relaxing to them, which is fine when you’re at home. There are many people who want to enjoy the benefits of THC, but do not want the feeling of being high or inebriated, which is why CBD is usually a better option if available. There are many states in North America have approved of people having at least partial use of medical marijuana. Each state differs slightly on how they classify and regulate the legal use, prescription, or sale of any form of marijuana. There is no federal law permitting the legal use of medical marijuana. Thus, it is illegal to use or prescribe medical marijuana in any state that doesn’t have a law allowing people to do so. Many states have authorized the use of marijuana for recreational purposes. As with medical marijuana, recreational usage is not legal federally. Laws surrounding the use of medical and recreational marijuana are changing rapidly. A person who is contemplating the using CBD or THC should check their local laws regularly as they may change or be changing.</p>
<p>So, depending on how you want to take either product, there’s always options that work best for you. We can have anxiety over almost anything, like an important decision that needs to be made at work, or a school project that needs to be done ASAP. Maybe you even get anxiety over being around other people. Either way, anxiety can affect so many different people, especially as of 2020/2021. According to a recent study, about 3.6 percent, or 264 million people around the world, have anxiety disorders. Within these numbers, there are different types of anxiety disorders, some cases more severe than others. While CBD can help with this condition, there is no proper “cure” for anxiety. Talk to your doctor or a licensed professional if you are experiencing conditions such as PTSD, OCD, Depression, or other conditions that have are having extreme effects on your day-to-day life.</p>
<p>For now, let’s dive into what CBD exactly is and what is the best way to take it to help you. Cannabidiol (CBD) is a type of cannabinoid, a chemical found naturally in cannabis (marijuana and hemp) plants. Early research is promising regarding the ability of CBD oil to help relieve anxiety. A few of these functions include mood, sleep, appetite, memory, etc. There is still a lot that is being discovered about this system in our bodies,<br />
what has been found out is amazing. We all have this ECS in our systems, even if you haven’t had any form of cannabis in your system. When we are born, this system in our brains is in a form of homeostasis, though over time it can become unbalanced. That’s where CBD can come in to help. The endocannabinoids can bind to either receptor, the effects that result depend on where the receptor is located and which endocannabinoid it binds to. The CB1 receptors are located in the brain and throughout the body, while CB2 receptors are found mostly in the immune and gastrointestinal system; although CB2 receptors are also found in the brain, they are not expressed quite as densely as CB1<br />

We can have anxiety over almost anything, like an important decision that needs to be made at work, or a school project that needs to be done ASAP. Maybe you even get anxiety over being around other people. Either way, anxiety can affect so many different people, especially as of 2020/2021. According to a recent study, about 3.6 percent, or 264 million people around the world, have anxiety disorders. Within these numbers, there are different types of anxiety disorders, some cases more severe than others. While CBD can help with this condition, there is no proper “cure” for anxiety. Talk to your doctor or a licensed professional if you are experiencing conditions such as PTSD, OCD, Depression, or other conditions that have are having extreme effects on your day-to-day life.</p>
<p>For now, let’s dive into what CBD exactly is and what is the best way to take it to help you. Cannabidiol (CBD) is a type of cannabinoid, a chemical found naturally in cannabis (marijuana and hemp) plants. Early research is promising regarding the ability of CBD oil to help relieve anxiety. When the baby arrives every new parent worry that they don’t really know what they are doing and somehow, inadvertently, they may do something, or not do something, that causes harm<br />
to their baby. Until a baby arrives, you don’t realize how totally vulnerable a little human is and now you are totally responsible for it! This can be scary sometimes, but these worries are totally normal, and everyone gets them occasionally. Approximately 15% of new mothers will experience what is classified as postpartum depression (PPD). Symptoms may occur a few days after delivery or sometimes as late as a year later.<br />
Symptoms of Postpartum Depression or Anxiety include but are not limited to:<br />
o Deep Sadness<br />
o Crying Spells<br />
o Hopelessness<br />
o Excessive Worrying<br />
o Intense Irritability or Anger<br />
o Loss of Appetite<br />
o Inability to Sleep, Even When the Baby is sleeping<br />
o Overwhelming Fatigue<br />
o Loss of Interest in Sex<br />
o Lack of Joy in Life<br />
o Feelings of Shame, Guilt or Inadequacy<br />
o Severe Mood Swings<br />
These are just to name a few as other women may experience other symptoms along the same<br />
as these.<br />
In women with postpartum depression, symptoms usually begin within the first four weeks of giving birth, although some women report decreasing mood in the late third trimester of pregnancy. A rapid decrease in some hormones after delivery is thought to be one contributing factors to the development of postpartum depression. But other risk factors include stressors, previous depressive episodes, depression during pregnancy, complications during pregnancy or delivery, and even a family history of mood disorders. Effects of Postpartum depression is associated with reduced mother-infant bonding, as well as increased marital stress and may also be associated with poorer cognitive and social-emotional development later in a child&#8217;s life. Further risk factors for developing postpartum depression include age younger than 20 years, low self-esteem or life stressors like low socioeconomic status, a lack of having social support before and after the birth of the baby, and marital problems, including any history of intimate partner violence.</p>
<p><strong>How is postpartum treated?</strong><br />
Antidepressant medications, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and interpersonal therapy have been shown to be effective. Antidepressants affect certain brain chemicals called neurotransmitters. There are lots of antidepressants. Some types work on different brain chemicals than others. Particular care is taken when considering medication given the potential<br />
risks of exposing a baby to the medications through breastfeeding. Although newer antidepressants are designed not to interfere with breastfeeding, there are no guarantees that they will work. It is also a fact that breastfeeding moms have limited choice when it comes to prescription drugs. And, if you have an adverse reaction to one drug, there may not be another option for you on the market.<br />
There are many side effects of anti-depressants not limited to nausea, increased appetite and weight gain, loss of sexual desire and other sexual problems, such as erectile dysfunction and<br />
decreased orgasm, fatigue and drowsiness, and even insomnia. It is even known to cause addiction to these antidepressants.</p>
<p><strong>How will CBD benefit?</strong><br />
One of the most significant findings of the last decade in this sphere is the fact that cannabinoids are found naturally in human breast milk. Several studies have confirmed that breast milk contains the same cannabinoids found in the marijuana plant and they are crucial for correct human development. Endocannabinoids help teach a newborn baby how to eat by stimulating the process of suckling. If these endocannabinoids didn’t exist, babies wouldn’t know how to eat nor would they have the desire. The result would be malnourishment and possibly death. <p><strong>Will a change in nutrition be beneficial?</strong></p>
<p>Postpartum wellness has been misinterpreted as weight loss, but in actuality, a woman’s body needs careful attention for recovery and healing in the form of nourishing foods, rest, and<br />
support. The pursuit of postpartum recovery should not be weight loss but rather, giving the body the optimal nutrition needed to heal from the transformative journey of pregnancy. Anxiety is a normal and often healthy emotion. However, when a person regularly feels disproportionate<br />
levels of anxiety, it might become a medical disorder. Anxiety disorder occurs when anxiety starts to<br />
severely impact a person’s life. Rather than feeling anxious in response to actual danger, someone with<br />
an anxiety disorder will experience the same symptoms in situations they perceive as dangerous.<br />
Anxieties now revolve around work, money, family life, health, and other crucial issues that<br />
demand a person&#8217;s attention without necessarily requiring the &#8216;fight-or-flight&#8217; reaction. The<br />
nervous feeling before an important life event or during a difficult situation is a natural echo of<br />
the original &#8216;fight-or-flight&#8217; reaction. It can still be essential to survival<br />
Anxiety can come in different forms such as, Generalized anxiety disorder, excessive worry about<br />
anything and everything, including worrying about worrying. Social anxiety disorder, anxiety in<br />
social situations, often rooted in the fear of doing something wrong and being judged by others.<br />
Panic disorder, repeated panic attacks and worry about future panic attacks. Agoraphobia,<br />
anxiety about having a panic attack in certain situations and not being able to escape or to get<br />
help. Specific phobias, intense fear of objects or situations (such as fear of dogs).</p>
<p><em>What is depression?</em><br />
Depression is one of the most common mental disorders in the U.S. Depression (major depressive<br />
disorder) is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think<br />
and how you act. Depression causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities once<br />
enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and can decrease a person’s ability to<br />
function at work and at home.<br />
Being sad is not the same as having depression. In grief, painful feelings come in waves, often<br />
intermixed with positive memories of the deceased. In major depression, mood and/or interest<br />
(pleasure) are decreased for most of two weeks. Another example, during grief, self-esteem is<br />
usually maintained. In major depression, feelings of worthlessness and self-loathing are<br />
common.<br />
Depression can affect anyone—even a person who appears to live in relatively ideal circumstances. The<br />
disorder also comes in various forms as well. There is Persistent depressive disorder, depression for about<br />
2 weeks and continuous episodes through life, Postpartum depression, “baby blues” when a woman<br />
experiences after birth depression making it difficult to care for their child. Psychotic depression, a person<br />
has depression plus some form of psychosis, such as false beliefs or hearing voices or hallucinating.<br />
Seasonal effective disorder characterized by onset depression during winter months wanting to be left in<br />
hibernation away from the outside world. These are just to name a few.<br />
Signs and symptoms of severe depression are, but not limited to persistent sad, anxious, or<br />
“empty” mood, feelings of hopelessness, or pessimism, irritability, feelings of guilt,<br />
worthlessness, or helplessness, loss of interest or pleasure in hobbies and activities, decreased<br />
energy or fatigue, moving or talking more slowly, feeling restless or having trouble sitting still or<br />
even difficulty concentrating, remembering, or making decisions. These are a few symptoms of<br />
an individual dealing with depression.</p>
<p><em>Treatments for anxiety and depression</em><br />
There are generally 2 forms of treatments that are given to patients with anxiety and depression disorder.<br />
The first is Psychotherapy, works to replace negative and unproductive thought patterns with more<br />
realistic and useful ones. These treatments focus on taking specific steps to overcome anxiety and<br />
depression.<br />
<em>Then there is medications&#8230;</em><br />
Most triggers of anxiety are due to 5-HT1A agonist: 5-HT1A is a subtype of the serotonin receptor, which<br />
is important because anxiety and depression can sometimes be treated with medications that target the<br />
serotonin system. This is the reasoning behind many drug companies who developed selective serotonin<br />
reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) like Prozac and Zoloft. SSRIs work by blocking reabsorption of serotonin in the<br />
brain, which increases availability of serotonin in the synaptic space. This helps brain cells transmit more<br />
serotonin signals, which can reduce anxiety and boost mood in certain cases<br />
While these drugs can be effective for many patients, some don’t respond favorably. Certain patients<br />
don’t see much improvement, or they can’t tolerate the side effects. Moreover, tranquilizers like Valium<br />
and Xanax can be highly addictive.</p>
<p><em>How can CBD help?</em><br />
Studies have shown cannabidiol could reduce symptoms of social anxiety in people with social anxiety<br />
disorder. Brain scans of participants revealed changes in blood flow to the regions of the brain linked to<br />
feelings of anxiety.<br />
Dysfunction of brain receptors can stem from low or high levels of serotonin, as well as from malfunctions<br />
with their receptors. Serotonin has at least 14 different receptors, but CBD specifically binds to 5-HT1A<br />
which has the strongest role in anxiety disorders. The anti-anxiety drug buspirone, which is a popular drug<br />
used for anxiety treatment also binds to this particular receptor, which in return explains the anti-anxiety<br />
effects of CBD on individuals exposed to stressful situations.<br />
CBD can help restore balance to the endocannabinoid system by preventing overstimulation of your CB1<br />
receptors and by boosting your body’s production of endocannabinoids. This equals homeostasis. When<br />
we develop homeostasis within the body we are at a balanced state. This means no stress or worries and<br />
our body can cope with the interference of the outside world as well. Even though chronic stress can<br />
damage neurons and even shrink brains cells, certain areas of the brain are still capable of regeneration.<br />
Throughout our lives we continue to form new neurons, make new connections, and continue to grow<br />
our brains. CBD helps to boost this process. This means that CBD can help to counterbalance the brain<br />

<p><em>Can a change in daily eating habits help me?</em><br />
Absolutely! Nutrition affects our mood on many levels.<br />
What we eat, especially foods that contain chemical additives and processed foods, affects our gut<br />
environment. When we consider the connection between the brain and the gut, it’s important to know<br />
that 90% of serotonin receptors are located in the gut. When the balance between the good and bad<br />
bacteria is disrupted in the gut, this is when health issues such as anxiety and depression arise.<br />
Based on what we eat daily can encourage our mood. We should be careful about using food as the<br />
only treatment for mood. For example, fast food and fries may taste good and help you cope for<br />
the moment, but it isn’t doing justice for your body as far as health benefits. You may find<br />
yourself feeling fatigue or groggy after a heavy meal or wanting something healthy to change<br />
that feeling. This is because your body wants foods that help increase positive mood levels.<br />
Studies suggests that eating a healthy, balanced diet and avoiding inflammation-producing foods are<br />
protective against depression.</p>
