More than half of all menstruating women experience cramps and in at least one in four of these women the cramps are severe. Menstrual cramps (Dysmenorrhea) are painful sensations that affect many women before and during a menstrual period.

Dysmenorrheatends to begin after ovulation when an egg is released from the ovaries and travels down the fallopian tube. Menstrual cramps are characterized by pelvic, lower abdomen and lower back pain. Commonly Menstrual cramps are caused by heavy flow, passing clots, uterine fibroids, or endometriosis.

Treatment for Dysmenorrhea include applying heat to painful areas, hormonal birth control, pain-relieving pain medications and in severe cases caused by endometriosis or fibroids, surgical removal of the uterus (hysterectomy). Medications used to treat period cramps include Ibuprofen, Ketoprofen and Naproxen.

Each medication contains negative side effects that include nausea, vomiting, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, skin rash, ringing in the ears, heartburn and bruising. CBD (cannabidiol) is a non-psychoactive chemical compound derived from the hemp plant and is know for its potential therapeutic effects.

Studies show that CBD may help alleviate Menstrual cramping and bloating by improving digestive functions and reducing inflammation throughout your body. CBD may also improve other symptoms you experience during your Menstrual cycle such as reduce breast and abdomen tenderness, prevent mood swings and manage stress and anxiety.

Our AHS 1500mg tincture can be taken sublingually along with our AHS 100mg suppositories that can be inserted vaginally to alleviate symptoms of Menstrual cramping. Always consult your primary care physician before starting a new treatment.

Our team of specialists are always available to provide you with education and assist you with any questions regarding CBD

As women age, we start to go through different life changes. One stage that every woman faces when they reach their 40’s or 50’s is Menopause. Menopause is the natural decline in reproductive hormones, it marks the end of your menstrual cycle which no longer allows you to get pregnant.

Menopause can officially be diagnosed after you’ve gone 12 months without a menstrual period. Early signs of menopause include irregular periods, hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, fatigue, and loss of libido and sexual discomfort. Many people wonder how long does menopause symptoms last. Although there is a usual range for how long menopause symptoms last, each woman’s journey is different. The transition often takes about four years, but for some symptoms may last longer. Treatment for menopause includes hormone therapy, vaginal estrogen, low-dose antidepressants, gabapentin, and clonidine.

Unfortunately, we are faced with side effects from hormone replacement therapy such as bloating, breast sensitivity, headaches, mood changes, nausea, vomiting, and vaginal bleeding. Many women dealing with menopause suffer many side effects from just the change alone. The thought of side effects from medication makes it a very unappealing solution. Menopause treatments cause side effects and long-term use complications. There is a growing body of evidence and clinical studies that prove cannabidiol (CBD) helps alleviate menopause symptoms. There is an extensive amount of research on the complex role of the endocannabinoid system in female fertility, including the onset of menopause.

Current research indicates that some fundamental changes occur in the endocannabinoid system and related biological systems during the menopausal transition. CBD works wonders in relieving symptoms due to menopause such as anxiety, depression, hot flashes, and night sweats.

Our CBD products such as our tinctures, gummies, and vape pens are perfect for alleviating those uncomfortable symptoms. Here at AHS we make it our mission to provide the best forms of education for our clients.
