Headaches, it’s one of those things that we can experience frequently at any time, and at any age. It can happen for simple reasons and be mild, or it can happen in more severe conditions and be painful. In this article, we will talk about how CBD can help your headaches symptoms, so you can feel relief faster and more efficiently.

Headaches and cause:

Headaches are a condition where your head gets a feeling of pain or throbbing that can cause anywhere from mild discomfort, to major pain. This is determined by the type of headache you may have. There are Migraines, Cluster headaches, and Tension-type headaches. Here are a few ways that headaches can occur:

Food sensitivities: Food and drink release neurotransmitters, which can cause headaches in some people. Common food triggers include aspartame, caffeine, chocolate, alcohol, and cheese to name a few.

Hormones: When estrogen levels drop (especially right before your period), you may be more likely to get a headache. Keep track of your cycle and plan when you can.

Posture: Your mom was right! Sit up straight to keep blood flowing (and move around when you can if you spend extended periods of time bent over a desk).

Lack of physical activity: Even though over-exertion can increase your risk for headaches, staying sedentary doesn’t help either. As with most things in life, moderation is key. Talk to your doctor before beginning or revising any exercise regimen.

Physical activity: Take it easy in the gym. Pushing too hard can result in an exertional headache from the swelling of blood vessels in your head, neck and scalp.

Medication: Some prescription medications may have the potential to trigger a headache. If you notice an increase, talk to your doctor.

Eating & sleeping patterns: Eat when you’re hungry. Sleep enough (not too much or too little), and don’t sleep in an odd position in a cold room – it can make your muscles spasm.

Noise: It’s not just loud, repetitive sounds. Even lower levels or continuous noise can hurt. Calming music and headphones may help.

Glare: Brightness from your computer screen, sunlight or overhead lights can make things painful. Turn them down and try adding a desk lamp.

Anxiety: Stress can take a toll on you. Breathe, relax, and take a stroll.

Cbd and how it helps:

CBD is one of the most well-known compounds in hemp and cannabis sativa plants. While delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) causes an intoxicatingly psychoactive high, CBD alone does not. CBD is a compound that helps reduce pain and inflammation in the body, as well as helps with anxiety and stress. This combination of benefits can help with headache prevention and recovery. When it comes to headaches, CBD can be used topically on your temples to help relax the tension and pain from the outside. When examining CBD alone, studies show that cannabinoids can be an effective treatment for chronic pain. CBD has been shown that it can lead to a reduction in migraine days and help decrease the impact of migraines. Beyond pain relief, CBD may help reduce nausea and inflammation often associated with migraines.

With whatever treatment you choose, if your symptoms persist or get worse, please contact a health care professional to help you with your treatment.

A lot of us are familiar with CBD and THC and how they work. But there are still a lot of people who aren’t sure what the exact differences between the two are. It is a common misconception that they both have the same properties and effects, which just isn’t true. Let’s discuss both chemical compounds and see the similarities and differences between the two.

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a non-psychoactive chemical that comes from the cannabis plant that holds many medicinal properties. It can be used either topically or internally, depending on what you’re using it for. There are different CBD products that work better for different conditions, such as stress/anxiety and topical pains. Then we have THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the chemical responsible for most of
marijuana’s psychological effects. It acts much like the cannabinoid chemicals made naturally by the body, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). There are different forms of each, one of the most popular being gummies.

Although CBD and THC are both found in marijuana and interact with the endocannabinoid system, there are some significant differences a person should be aware of, despite both being cannabinoids, CBD and THC interact with slightly different receptors in a person’s brain. However, there is some variation in the uses of each substance. People typically use CBD to help with conditions such as: inflammatory bowl disease (IBS), seizures, depression, anxiety, inflammation (internal or external), migraines, and more. Then there is THC that can be used to potentially help the following: glaucoma, muscle spasms, low appetite, and insomnia. The general common ground that these two shares is that they are generally used for pain, anxiety, and nausea.

There are also side effects to each one, though generally THC has the more noticeable ones. CBD has been shown to have very few to no side effects overall. CBD is safe in large quantities, and the only potential side effects are likely the result of interactions with other medications a person may be taking, or a stomachache and diarrhea when taking too much. There are also the side effects of THC that most people are aware of: red eyes, slower response times, the general feeling of being high, issues with coordination, increased heart rate, etc. There are people who enjoy the feeling of being high, that being more relaxing to them, which is fine when you’re at home. There are many people who want to enjoy the benefits of THC, but do not want the feeling of being high or inebriated, which is why CBD is usually a better option if available. There are many states in North America have approved of people having at least partial use of medical marijuana. Each state differs slightly on how they classify and regulate the legal use, prescription, or sale of any form of marijuana. There is no federal law permitting the legal use of medical marijuana. Thus, it is illegal to use or prescribe medical marijuana in any state that doesn’t have a law allowing people to do so. Many states have authorized the use of marijuana for recreational purposes. As with medical marijuana, recreational usage is not legal federally. Laws surrounding the use of medical and recreational marijuana are changing rapidly. A person who is contemplating the using CBD or THC should check their local laws regularly as they may change or be changing.

So, depending on how you want to take either product, there’s always options that work best for you. At AHS, we have specialists and a nurse on staff who can answer any questions you may have on CBD, a condition you may have, or any other product we carry in our store. Always consult one of our specialists or your doctor if you’re on medication and would like to try CBD and check the legality of THC in your state before purchasing.

About 38 million Americans (13% of the population) experience migraines, even more experience tension headaches frequently due to various causes. Migraines are headaches of varying intensity often accompanied by nausea and sensitivity to light and sound.

Symptoms of a migraine include throbbing in one area that can vary in intensity. Nausea and sensitivity to light and sound are also common symptoms.

Treatments such as pain-relieving medications can be used to manage migraine pain. Tension headaches are mild to moderate pain often described as feeling like a tight band around the head. Symptoms include pain on both sides of the head that may be associated with muscle pain.

Treatments such as pain-relieving medications, ice or heat, and good posture can be used to manage tension headaches. Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-psychoactive compound derived from the hemp plant known for its potential therapeutic effects.

Studies found that headache and migraine sufferers experienced positive results when taking CBD to treat their pain. The study compared CBD’s effects on migraines and headaches with those of popular pain medications, only to find that CBD is just as, if not more effective than an over the counter medication such as ibuprofen.

The same studies also found that regular CBD intake decreases the frequency of headaches and migraines, meaning that this cannabinoid has the potential to prevent this type of pain from occurring. What makes CBD unique is that it directly interacts with our endocannabinoid system by supplying it the things it needs to function at its best.

This interaction helps to regulate different bodily processes including inflammation and pain tolerance. CBD acts as both an analgesic and an anti-inflammatory aid. The chemical compounds found in CBD can reduce inflammation and the analgesic compounds are able to stop the brain from receiving pain signals sent by the nerves.

Our AHS 1500mg tincture can be taken sublingually. AHS tension rollers can be applied to the back of your neck, your temples, and behind your ear to alleviate pain along with our Vici migraine patches.

Always consult your primary care physician before starting a new treatment.

Our team of specialists are always available to provide you with education and assist you with any questions regarding CBD.

Many people struggle with migraines, the sudden onset of pain and inability to function for several hours can take a toll on anyone. Migraines are a recurring type of headache. They cause moderate to severe pain that is throbbing or pulsing. The pain is often on one side of your head.

You may also have other symptoms, such as nausea, weakness, light sensitivity, sound sensitivity. There are many factors that could be causing a migraine such as stress, anxiety, hormonal changes, bright or flashing lights, loud noises, strong smells, medications, overexertion, caffeine, and skipped meals. Researchers suggest that migraines might even be genetic. Statistics show that 12% of Americans get migraines.

They can affect anyone;however, womenare more susceptible to experiencing migraines. Common treatments for migraines include resting with your eyes closed in a quiet, darkened room and lots of fluids. Medications to help treat/prevent migraines could be prescribed however long-term use complications and side effects from the medication will cause people to take a more holistic alternative.

CBD has shown high success rates in relieving chronic pain, inflammation, anxiety, depression, and insomnia. The way CBD works in your body is it activates or inhibits other compounds in the endocannabinoid system. For example, CBD stops the body from absorbing anandamide, a compound associated with regulating pain. So, increased levels of anandamide in the bloodstream may reduce the amount of pain a person might experience.

CBD does not contain THC and is non-psychoactive meaning it will not get you high or cause you to test positive on a drug screening. CBD does not cause long term use complications which makes it a very safe and natural alternative. Depending on the severity of pain we recommend our tinctures, salve creams, or our headache roller. Our team of specialists are always available to help provide education and answer any questions you might have.
