The National Institutes of Health estimates that roughly 30 percent of the general population suffers from sleep disruption, and approximately 10 percent have associated symptoms of daytime functional impairment consistent with the diagnosis of insomnia.

Insomnia is a sleep disorder that consists of persistent problems falling and staying asleep. Most cases of insomnia are related to poor sleep habits, depression, anxiety, lack of exercise, chronic illness, or prescribed medications. Insomnia is characterized by difficulty falling or staying asleep and not feeling well-rested. Treatment for insomnia consists of improving sleep habits, behavior therapy, identifying and treating underlying causes, prescribed medications, and sleep aid supplements.

Melatonin is one of the most popular supplements for sleep and typically comes in pill form. Melatonin is the sleep hormone produced by the brain in response to the dark. When the sun begins to set, the body clock tells the brain it is time to produce melatonin, the hormone that helps us relax, makes us feel drowsy and ultimately gets us to sleep. Melatonin is hindered by bright lights and triggered by darkness. That is the reason why sleeping in a dark room is the healthiest. Imbalances in the production of melatonin are often responsible for sleep disorders.

Two forms of melatonin exist in the general market. One is the natural form which comes from the pineal gland of animals. The other is a synthetic form following the same chemical pathway as natural melatonin. Synthetic melatonin is somewhat safer to use because it is free from biological contaminants. Natural sourced melatonin, on the other hand, may pose a risk to humans because it can be contaminated with animal diseases.

Melatonin also contains negative side effects which include headaches, dizziness, nausea, depression, tremors, anxiety, abdominal pain, irritability, confusion, and low blood pressure. Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-psychoactive compound derived from the hemp plant known for its potential therapeutic effects.

Research shows that CBD may help alleviate insomnia without the negative side effects of prescribed medications or sleep aid supplements. CBD may affect sleep directly by interacting with receptors in the brain that govern the body’s daily sleep/wake cycles. CBD may also help alleviate insomnia by combating the causes of sleeplessness.

A common cause of insomnia is anxiety and stress. CBD helps regulate cortisol, a stress hormone, which has a significant impact on sleep cycles. Studies found that CBD is beneficial for anxiety-related disorders and an increase in sleep quality.

For those who struggle with sleeplessness due to chronic or acute pain, CBD offers a natural alternative to pharmaceutical pain relievers.

CBD helps reduce pain-induced sleeplessness by working on the symptoms themselves rather than providing a sedative effect like many sleep-aids.

Like humans and dogs, the feline anatomy is equipped with an endocannabinoid system (ECS). Because of this, cats can experience a variety of health benefits from cannabinoids like Cannabidiol (CBD).

The ECS is a network of receptors found throughout the central nervous system and other biological systems that can interact with cannabinoids like CBD.By influencing these receptors with its anti-inflammatory and antipsychotic properties, studies have shown that CBD can help maintain and improve their functionality, thereby improving the integrity of the systems they regulate.

This interaction is what allows CBD to deliver numerous benefits to cats, such as pain relief, stress management, reduced aggression and more. It was previously believed that dogs had a higher chance of experiencing arthritis. However, recent studies have shown that cats get arthritis just as frequently as dogs, with higher chances in older cats.

This can lead to decreased mobility, constant pain, lack of energy, and all sorts of other symptoms that can make life unpleasant. While age is inevitable, CBD may help improve the situation. Packed with powerful anti-inflammatory properties, CBD may help reduce inflammation, while mitigating the spread of further inflammation. In addition, researchers have found that CBD may decrease the perceived level of pain by activating and desensitizing the brain’s vanilloid receptor. Like us,cats can experience stress and anxiety at varying levels along with many of the same unpleasant symptoms we experience.

Common stressors for cats include changes to their environment, conflicts with other cats, poor human-cat relationships, and health problems. Prolonged stress can lead to declined health, poor grooming habits, behavioral issues, poor eating habits, and many other issues.

Studies have shown that CBD may help alleviate stress and anxiety by moderating cortisol (the stress hormone) and influencing receptors in the brain responsible for mood regulation and moderating neurological activity. By doing so, CBD has shown to help reduce stress levels while improving how the brain responds to stress signals.A regular eating habit is also important for cat health.

A decreased appetite in cats can be caused by a variety of different things, including dental problems, mood-related disorders, and numerous health conditions. While the issue may vary, CBD may help stimulate your cat’s appetite and can provide relief for some of the possible issues.

Poor attitude can be a serious problem caused by low levels of energy, unbalanced hormones, or other deeper issues. By alleviating issues that are possibly at the root of the problem CBD may help improve your cat’s mood-related disorders. In addition, CBD can work synergistically to maintain homeostasis (balance) in the body by interacting with receptors in the brain that are responsible for regulating mood levels and moderating hormone production. With the ability to provide natural relief for numerous conditions, CBD may improve your cat’s overall quality of life and keep them healthier longer.

Our Bailey’s 100mg CBD Cat Tincture Oil can be given to your feline companion by mouth or mixed into food to help alleviate pain, inflammation, anxiety, poor eating habits, aggression and more.
